Justin Gatlin tests positive for steroids
Apparently tested positive (A and B samples) after April 22 Kansas Relays for high levels of testosterone or one of its precurssors.
Could warrent a lifetime ban!

Gatlin said he tested positive after the Kansas Relays on April 22. Three weeks later, he tied the 100-meter world record by running 9.77 seconds at a meet in Qatar. However, Gatlin faces much worse than the prospect of losing his share of the world mark if he can't fight his way out of this positive test: Because of a previous positive for the use of a stimulant, he could be hit with a lifetime ban.

In addition, Gatlin could find himself caught up in the ongoing BALCO probe because his coach is Trevor Graham, one of the central figures in the now four-year-old investigation. Graham, who has had several athletes test positive for steroids, is under investigation for whether he made false statements to federal agents in 2003 when he denied ever providing banned drugs to his athletes, according to three people familiar with the Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative case.

No, of course you never knew...
Seriously, you expect anyone to believe you when your trainer has multiple links to Balco? Wow.

Here's something I found interesting:
"Gatlin's "B" urine sample already has tested positive, corroborating his "A" sample. In addition, Myler said the test employed indicated that the testosterone in her client's body was synthetic or came from an external source -- ruling out the argument that Gatlin produced naturally high levels of the substance."
It's interesting that they can establish between synthetic and natural testosterone. Could a similar test be the thing that saves (or condemns) Landis?

That would be the fans and I think it is a little harsh to blame them. Although seeing how the San Fran fans still support Bonds it is much easier to blame some.
(I guess I may be guilty as well because I still like Mark Mcgwire and think he should definately get in to the Hall of Fame)

The thing that bugs me, or makes me shake my head at these guys is they always do the "OMG!!!! How the heck did I test positive! I've done nothing wrong, I'm pure as the virgin mary!" song and dance.
I'd respect these guys a lot more if they said nothing until their B sample was in and then held the presser and said something like "Yeah, I took drugs. I took drugs because <winning the TdF, becoming the fastest man on earth, beating the home run record, etc.> is worth millions to me. I got caught, and I'll pay for it now and in the future when my body falls apart. I'm sorry, but it's business."
Just admit you got caught, and take it like a man.

Guys, we're getting way ahead of ourselves here.
Gatlin's trainer provided a perfectly logical explanation for all of this: Gatlin's disgruntled massiust rubbed some tainted cream on Gatlin's legs.
Hilarious stuff.

Funny you mention this... because I was all over Jason Giambi when he got caught. Then... he was one of the only players to come clean, and admit his mistake and his selfishness. Good on him. He took it like a man and I have much more respect for the guy now then before.
Although, he still cheated, so i still don't respect him completely
