Default New Metallica song

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwsbUUEOT9g&NR

Listening at first, I was a little disappointed as it sounded too much like St.Anger stuff, but it definetely got better throughout. I like what I hear.

Warning: some explicit language.

Yay. This sucks. Another un-original drop D song from a band that used kick the **** out of people world wide.

I'll go listen to some ride the lightning and cry about what went wrong..

Edit:

The only thing i can't complain is kirk is finally playing solos again that aren't 3 seconds long and 4 notes.

I posted it back in June. It ended up being hijacked by haters who needed to let everyone know just how much they hate them.

I just don't let Metallica haters bother me anymore. I used to take offense to what they said, but I couldn't care less anymore. I happen to think this already sounds better than the first stuff I heard from St. Anger.

When I first heard it I was impressed with the sound right away. It's no Master of Puppets but every Metallica album sounds different and they dont like repeating themselves. I thought the lyrics could have used some work but the album hasnt even been recorded yet so there's a chance they could change a bit. And since then I dont think the lyrics are that bad.

They say the album wont be out until Fall 2007 but I could see them saying that so that they dont have pressure on them to get it done by the end of 06 or the start of 07. They already have like 15 songs written so it shouldnt take them a year to tweak and record them.

Oh, I'm not pointing fingers at you. Atleast you actually listened to it and gave your opinion instead of just going right into ripping them apart and then leaving. When I first posted that topic I knew that not everyone would like it but I was hoping it wouldnt turn into a "St. Anger sucks, Lars is an *******, They looked like asses in their movie" thread but it ended up only getting a couple replies about the new song.

Metallica's new stuff sucks. Garrage Inc. was thier last good album IMO.

As for rock I have been listening to Rebel Meets Rebel alot latley, their quite good. Any of the Abbott Bros. work is good.

LOL! I saw that a while back, pretty bad stuff. I saw DLR 3 years ago at an outdoor show and he wasn't bad.

and I think the new song is much better than anything from their last album. Hetfield's vocals nedd a little improvement, yes, but it's a step in the right direction.

They always change the lyrics and clean them up just before going into production. If y'watch any of the DVDs where they do a live preview of a new song or listen to any demos, the lyrics are always different and rearranged than the finished product.

James' voice is starting to lack what it used to have when they performed live.

As for anybody who complains that the new stuff doesn't sound enough like the old stuff, if everything sounded the same album after album Metallica would be on par with AC/DC or, God forbid, Nickleback.

I like the tune and Im lookin' forward to the new album.

Metallica rocks.

Part of it has to do with him getting older but I dont think James goes 100% anymore for vocals every show on tours because he doesnt want to risk doing what he did making the black album and screwing it up halfway through the tour. I've seen videos from their past European tour and on some of the shows he sounds like the Hetfield of old and brings that Hetfield growl back. Particularly in the show where in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Master of Puppets they played the whole album from start to finish along with about five other songs. He sounded pretty much flawless.

On St. Anger there's parts where he sounds bad but you have to remember that although Bob Rock had him sing lyrics different ways each time it was a one take thing so if his voice cracked while recording they kept it. Not the way I would have did it but I guess if they were going for the whole raw deal having flawless vocals wouldnt fit. We dont have to worry about that for the new album though because not only do they not want to do the raw thing over again but based on what I've heard of him I dont think Rick Rubin would choose to produce the album if they went that direction again.

Something I've noticed that is quite amusing. Anyone who still listens to Metallica and tries to defend them isn't old enough to be into them during the Kill 'Em All/Lightening days.

When you grew up with this band and knew how badass they were, you cannot stomach this new weak material.

That's great you're throwing around blanket statements like ANYONE who grew up with Metallica from the early albums CANNOT stomach their new material. It's good to know someone speaks for older Metallica fans everywhere.

Oh... wait, you don't. I've been a Metallica fan since their start. In fact, Kill 'Em All was the first album I ever bought. And I still happen to like most of their new material (although, granted their older material is still better). Personally, I think B-grade material from Metallica is better than most top material from other bands. You're entitled to your personal opinion about Metallica's old vs. new material, but please phrase as it as such instead of spouting off on behalf of ALL older Metallica fans who don't all agree with you.

That's complete bull**** and you know it. There's plenty of of old school fans that even go as far back as the pre-Kill Em All days that still like Metallica. They might not like the new stuff more than the old stuff and wish that Metallica would go back to the old style but they still like the new stuff or atleast some of it.

How do I know this? Well, being in the Metclub we have plenty of "How long have you been a fan?" threads and there's a ton of people in their late 30s - early to mid 40s who have said they've been a fan since the beginning. Just because you didnt like how they changed their sound doesnt mean that everyone who listened to them in the 80s stopped liking them and now all their fans consist of people who were born in the 80s. Hell, I work with a woman in her 40s who along with her husband have liked Metallica since the 80s.

its way better than anything they play on cjay 90 percent of the time, if i want hard ****, i'll listen to napalm death or slayer

Yep, I completely agree. Just look at Blabbermouth.net. One of the band members cant even go to a concert without them posting an article on it because they know they're going to get a reaction from it and the comment board will be full of insults. Seriously, does the public really need to be informed about stuff like that? I'm a huge Metallica fan and I could care less what these guys are doing when they arent in the studio.
