Default TD- Canada Trust Computers down?

So, today is payday. I check my account, and nothing. Everybody else who deals with TD also didn't get paid.

As well, the Interac purchase I made at 9:00 last night isn't showing up either. I tried calling them, but if the problem is as widespread as I suspect I can imagine there's a million people trying to call them.

Just a head's up to anybody who is dependant on having cash from them today.

Apparently when a million customers lose service, their phone lines end up being busy.

Just getting some more info, looks like the storm in Toronto knocked out their power, and TD hasn't heard of a UPS.

I made a deposit and a withdrawal last night around 9PM and neither show up when I log in through the web. So, they might be having a problem.

My company has contacted TD on our behalf, and they say things should return to normal by noon today.

We'll see if that happens or not.

Something happened like this with the Royal Bank a few years back. It took them like a week to fix it. People didn't get paid so all you had to do was go in and tell them how much your pay check was suppose to be and they would but that much into your bank.

Yep, I also got paid just before lunch time. Good thing, because I didn't bring any cash with me to work, and I raided my coin drawer to but breakfast.

Do you know if this CIBC problem ever got cleared up? And when did this problem begin?

Quote:
A computer glitch is being blamed for a transaction backlog that had thousands of banking customers wondering where their money went.
Officials at TD Bank Financial Group say the technological malfunction has now been fixed, but it might take hours to catch up on deposits, bill payments and the like.
“It’s not like you can flick a switch and all accounts are then resolved,” said TD spokesman Simon Townsend.
Townsend said he expected the situation will be resolved by the end of the business day.

I wonder who is getting fired at TD...

By the way, did anyone sign up at TD to get the free ipod? Are they still doing that?

yep, everything looks normal. Noticed it about 9am this morning, only showing balances, but unable to give transaction detail.

The funny thing is people immediately started talking at work how it was so much better when we received a physical cheque. Never mind how many times the cheques got delayed by some courier- how about the fact that you didn't have cash on your ATM card at 8:00 am? How would a paper cheque be faster, as you would still have to walk to the bank, and if the system was down you'd still be just as broke.

Well I don't know if this relates to my issue with my paycheck from last week not appearing to have deposited. But I have to have a trace done on this deposit, because it still hasn't shown up.

Fortunately I don't use this account at my disposal, so in the current time I'm not affected.
