Default Are there any music shops in the downtown core?

Are there any music stores with guitars or instruments in the downtown core that I can maybe walk to at lunch and noodle around if I'm bored?

St. John's Music used to be on 10th Ave but they've moved considerably out of walking distance to something like 58th Ave!

Is there a couple of music stores around Jimmy's Corner [17avx14st]? Maybe too far?

I think Mother's is right on that corner, but again, probably too far.

Jimmy's Corner? Where does that come from?

Mother's used to be on the corner of 17th Ave and 14th St., they moved well over a year ago.

I believe Jimmy Condon had a restaurant there. I heard it called that many times when I first came to Calgary but never knew why either.

Mother's hasn't been there for at least a year. It's a T-Shirt store now.
There really isn't anything in the downtown area for musical instruments & accessories.

I'm afraid your only choice is to either pay a busker to use his guitar for a few minutes or head up to the arcade at Eau Claire and sink a few loonies into that guitar playing game. Sad isn't it.

Does Rideau Music have anything? I seem to remember dicking around on a keyboard a few times, although I usually went there to pick up sheet music. I haven't been downtown for a while, but a couple years ago Rideau was on 11 Ave and about 2 St SW.
