Anyone fly to Hawaii on Westjet?
I'm going to Honolulu in a week, last time we flew Air Canada which SUCKS.
Just wondering with Westjet, you get your own tv screen right? Do they have on demand ppv movies in them? What kind of food do they serve on the Vancouver>Honolulu flight?
I know Westjet for the most part is pretty economical so i'd be suprised if they served a meal (I guess that's a good thing)
Just some random questions.

Yeah i'm wondering that myself. I've flown to Vancouver and had a row to myself every time.
I'll let you know, I usually hit up the web cafe in waikiki every morning with coffee before I find some place on the island to relax all day.

I stayed at the Miramar Waikiki last time, it was good enough. Staying at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani this time in Waikiki aswell. It looks very decent. But honestly you don't spend alot of time in your room so as long as it's clean I don't really care.
Maybe sample00 has some recommendations?

I haven't flown to Hawaii on Westjet but I've heard that the channels on the personal tv are lost shortly after you are over the Pacific Ocean. But there are four PPV movies you can buy. But they aren't on demand. You pay and they start at a pre-determined time.
I'd recommend a personal DVD player. They're pretty cheap these days and you don't have to worry about losing the audio for a couple of minutes while they make announcements in both languages.

Tip: Use the web check in and do it 24 hours in advance if you want a row with more leg room (emergency exit row, front row).

As per my parents:
No meal but they have an expanded BOB. Also the ExpressVu will work about 3/4 of the way there.
Harmony and Westjet own the economy HNL routes 33 and 34" pitch compared the AC 32-33. WS has actually a bit more legroom. Harmony flies direct from Calgary, if you can afford their biz class do it, amazing food and service, well worth it if you are like me and only do 2 weeklong vacations a year. If only Westjet flew to San Juan, Sainte Martinique or Costa Rica from Calgary, I wouldnt have to connect in Dallas or Houston.

You can't do web check unless it is within Canada. Also, exit row and front row can't be selected online for any flight because they have to see you in person to make sure you are capable of assisting in the event of an emergency for exit row and the aisles in the front. Also, typically specialty guests (wheelchair users or guests with other physical limitations) have first priority for the front row middle/window seats.

Apparently there's a big invasion of box jellyfish right now. The biggest since 1997. Should clear up by Friday (I'm going Wednesday) So i'll have to kill two days with non beach related activities.
Hike Diamond Head, hang out in the hotel pool. Damn Jellyfish!
Thanks, oh what do you mean by an extended BOB?

You most certainly can do web check for international flights, I know because I have done it. I have gone to both England and France and have done it. There is a place for you to enter your passport numbers etc.
Now, you will still have to see an agent at the airport, but the process is really very quick now. I was with AC, and they had a separate line for those of us who had previously done web check. You have your seat, etc, they just have to look at your passport and verify that.

I'm sure other carriers do have web check transborder/internationally, but WestJet does not. I'm the person who would tell you that when you call to find out why the web check isn't working for your flight to Vegas.

So can I web check in for my Calgary/Vancouver flight? Just not the Vancouver/Honolulu right?

No, the computer would read your confirmation number as a YYC-HNL trip, it wouldn't separate the domestic portion. Also, the main reason there is no web chk to the States is so our agents can make sure you have the right id before they send you through customs as you will actually be pre-clearing customs at YYC. So basically, no web check unless the entire trip is domestic.

Why would they do that? The Calgary/Van flight is completely seperate as you go through customs in Vancouver, not Calgary.
Oh well. Not really a big deal as I do the computer check in at the airport at those terminals.

Ah... that explains why when I flew to Montreal earlier this week I did web check-in about 20 hours before my flight and the front row and emergency exit rows still weren't available.
So if I want a seat in those rows, what's my best course of action? How early would I have to arrive at the airport?
