DYI home security?

Hi Folks,

My house has some rudimentary wiring in place already for an alarm system. Without breaking out my multimeter, I'm pretty sure the wiring is set up so that I've got four wires at a panel near the front door, and in the bedroom, which run to two conductors at the frame of the front and back doors.

So, assuming I wanted to do a basic DYI install, say magnetic sensors on the doors, and a motion sensor for downstairs and the garage (wireless, I guess), does anyone have any recommendations for kit to get it done? The only other requirement would be the capability for the panel to call a cell phone, I have it on at all times, so I can do my own monitoring, thank you very much
