Default First NHL 07 and NHL 2K Screenshots

I was browsing GameSpot today and came across these screen shots of the NHL games coming out in September..can't wait!
http://screenshots.teamxbox.com/gallery/1516/NHL-07/p1/

I know that sometimes prescreen shots can be faked but damn...it looks so good

the thing is none of that is real gameplay, just some fancy intro animation or maybe a short replay. seems like the actual gameplay hasnt really changed all that much throughout the last few years....

I wouldn't be too hasty in proclaiming that. Next Gen systems are cabable of some truly astounding things. Look at Fight Night if you need any proof.

I love that in this shot

Iggy scored top shelf on Luongo, Vancouver better get used to that.

That may be, but there are some context clues to indicate that these may just be intro videos--like the fact that Iggy and Luongo are the only guys on the ice. Unless it's a screenshot of a shootout....

Graphics look superb, but I've never really liked the EA NHL series, and here is why: It does not simulate a real hockey game enough to my liking.

If you've ever played it on hard level, it is nearly impossible to score from an actual shot. It has to be a deke or a one timer. And I find that the computer lets you score during the first period, but it gets impossibly harder to score late in the game.

What they need to do is make it so everytime a player shoots it, it takes into account the distance, location, shot speed, and shot accuracy of the player shooting, and measure that against the goalie's save percentage, goals against average, and weaknesses as to where he gets beat, factor in how many players are screening him, and line of sight to the puck and divvy all that up to figure out if that shot beats him. Throw in a confidence meter for good measure.

Also, there are hardly any options for a puck bouncing in off a skate or funny bounces off the boards.

The NHL Hockey game I want is probably at least 10 years away from becoming a reality, unfortunately.

In half of the screen shots the players have no sleeve numbers. I guess someone forgot some code.

Huge number of fans wearing Flames jerseys in the Iginla/Luongo shot. Although with Iggy wearing whites, it should be a road game.

For the 360 version, those are actual in game screen shots. I saw the game in person a couple weeks ago..

For NHL 07

Current Gen (PC, PS2, XBox, and PSP) will be a totally different game entirely. Next gen NHL 07 (360) is built from the ground up and if you're a fan of authentic hockey, it looks like the first next gen NHL from EA will impress alot of people.

I for one was blown away, the animations are mindblowing.

All I can say about it for now.

I don't think you'll ever see the hockey game that is close to 100% what you want... These developers need to sell their games. There are a niche group of Hockey Hardcore gamers that really are miniscule to their sales. They need to make products that are easy to pick up and play and achieve the closest ammount of balanced gameplay as they can... that will sell.

Could be a screen from the Free4All mode.

Those are direct feed screenshots for the naysayers who think it's cinematics. Trust me.

why do you lump PC in with the versions that the PS2 and other current gen systems will be getting? PC's are already able to outdo the XBOX 360 in terms of graphics and physics, so it would be pretty dumb for EA to dumb down NHL 07 for the PC when there is no need to

Perhaps in the future but not for 07... right now they want a solid base for next gen NHL. NHL 07 for 360 is it. Could they do it on a higher end pc? Of course but what you need to understand is that hardcore gamers are very very small in comparison to their main market who may not be tech savvy or have the system to run next gen NHL 07. Plus the game in Europe sells like crazy for PC and according to one of the producers is the main reason why PC NHL 07 will be current gen.

People still need to understand, that EA wants to sell as many copies of their game as they can. Why isolate their PC market to those with only super machines?? Plus I think they want to wait until Vista is released.

Next Generation of gaming are consoles... this is an absolute fact. Developers more and more are developing with that in mind. Trust me, i'd love a PC version of Next gen NHL 07 because it's easier to manage rosters and add ons. But in the grand scheme of things Next gen consoles are the way to go. I just got a 360 and LOVE it on my HDTV. I also just spent $400 on a video card.

Not only is it more economical to buy a console $499 for 360 vs $400 for JUST a video card but it's also a hell of alot more convenient for GENERAL CONSUMERS.
