Any idea how Gst and Pst work?
if I'm buying an item from another province (in this case Quebec) do I pay regular Gst and Pst? and if so what would that # be?......going by the little information I looked at it, it seems that I'll end up paying 13 % on the goalie pads I'm buying out of quebec. Could anyone verify this for me or explain to me how it actually will work?
ps. ebay item amazing lookings goalie pads, I'll post pics when I get'em for all the goalies here.

If a seller is in Quebec and is shipping them to you in Alberta, then you only have to pay GST. I would also ask for his GST number; tell him you have a small business and it sponsers your hockey and you want to write off the GST. I say that because a lot of places don't actually have sales tax accounts, but charge it anyways.

I've done business with him before if he's using sales tax to get a few extra bucks outta me that's ok he's an amazing seller, great communication, answers every question I've ever asked. I just wasn't sure if I was going to end up paying Pst as well.
Thanks for the clarification everyone

You will only pay the provincial sales tax of that province if you live there or buy the product while you are physically there. Otherwise, if the transaction is over the internet, you only pay the taxes of the province that you reside in.
Now some things, you can not avoid. Not in some provinces anyhow. For instance, if you buy a car in Alberta but reside in Saskatchewan and need to register your car in the province of Saskatchewan, they will then charge you their PST before you can register that vehicle.
Products however that do not need to be registered as the above example, for instance a washer and dryer, then you can visit Alberta, buy them in Alberta, take them back to Saskatchewan and not pay the PST. If you however are residing in Saskatcewan and try to buy them on line and have them shipped to you, then Alberta will be forced to charge you the PST. You do however have to pay the GST in every single case I have given as an example. GST is a federal tax and thus applies in every province.

That's fraud. Just sayin'
If the receipt says it is GST/PST, it must be remitted.
If your annual revenue is < $30,000 you are not required to register for GST, but the day you hit $30,001 you are deemed to have registered as of that period and need to get a GST account. Otherwise it is tax evasion and they have been hiring extra auditors looking for that.

i'm confused, if you've done business with him before, why don't you know what you'll be paying? not that it matters, just curious.
