Lost! - new season schedule
Quote:
an initial run of six or seven episodes in the fall (the season premiere is scheduled for Oct. 4). "Day Break" will then take over the 9 p.m. Wednesday slot for 13 weeks (it's set to premiere Nov. 15), with "Lost" returning after that.

I hate it when shows do this. How was Prison Break's ratings after it did this? ABC tried this with Alias, and it is now cancelled.

Boy does that suck. I personally hated how Prison Break had it's huge gap in the middle of the season. Totally destroyed the atmosphere and intensity of the series, and when you returned you were very blurry on some fine details.

I really wish that networks would do away with this scheduling. I like what Fox does with 24 - hold off on it until Janurary and then just play it all the way through with no repeats. I wish more networks would do this.

IMO, this is preferable to the 1 or 2 new episodes followed by weeks of reruns that plagued last season (and most shows).
It's not as good as 24, which does its' entire run continuously in the 2nd half of the TV season, but the breakdown of 7 to start, then 17 in a row isn't bad.

The DVD release date for LOST season 2 stinks.

I think Lost may be the most frustrating show on TV right now. I've watched every episode (so I guess it has something going for it ), but I can't remember ever feeling satisfied at the end of an episode. They never wrap anything up. Every episode asks more questions than it answers. I can't imagine that the payoff at the end of this (if it ever comes) is going to in any way live up to the build up and be satisfying either.
I like the style of 24 a lot better, where they actually wrap up storylines as the season goes.

The producers have said many times that they hate it too but can't get around it. This show is very involved when it comes to filming. They need to have episodes for sweeps but need to film in various locations which spreads out resources pretty thin. They were still filming last seasons finale two weeks before it aired.

The thing is... if a network grabs people into watching lost at 9pm on wednesday, and then changes the show on us, we might be used to watching TV at that time and watch the new show.
I am sure it has something to do with sneaky trickery.

There's no way in hell lost is cancelled. Even if they didn't show anything for an entire year.
It's only just beginning really.

Well, Bad Robot (J.J. Abrahms production company) just signed a contract with WB to produce new shows for them until 2012, and with Paramount to produce movies for 5 years.
The article I read said "...Abrams will continue to serve as executive producer..." so it doesn't sound like he will be quite as involved as he has been. I'm thinking the show will change, much like Alias did.
And ABC didn't want to delay the premiere until the new year because they want to use Lost as the lead-in for another new show that premieres in the time-slot after Lost.

The problem with messing with the time slot is it can cost you viewers. Fox was famous for doing this- they would create a show and place it around the Simpsons time slot. Then move it- find it didn't work well there, and move it again. Before people could figure out when they had to watch it they would cancel it.
Greg the Bunny is a good example. So is Family guy, and Platypus Man.
