Default Furniture Stores

Did a search but couldn't find anything. I'm looking for a good place for furniture/TV shopping. I have no idea which stores sell crap and which ones sell quality stuff (and I can't really tell the difference). Specifically I'm looking for a sofa/loveseat/TV package deal at or under $5000. Most important to me is a good selection of TVs, most important to my girlfriend is comfortable furniture.

Any good/bad experiences with the Brick, UFW, etc?

The Brick and UFW are both owned by the same people and I'd avoid them like the plague.

Ok, any particular reason why? Where would you go if not those two places?

Don’t get me started on the Brick. I missed several days of work and waited 2 months for a coffee table that that they eventually told me they no longer sold and the only one left was a broken floor model that I could pick up from the store(I paid for delivery). I eventually got my money back but two months and several missed delivery times to tell me they no longer carried it? I’ll never go there again!

We eventually went to Sears (near ikea), a little more expensive but they had a great selection. For a tv, I’d have to say Future shop, they seem to have the best selection and prices. Wait for it to go on sale though, they seem to have one every other week.

Been shopping around too. Leon's sells both furniture and TV's.

Personally, I'm separating the TV from the furniture shopping, as it is difficult to find one store that has all of your needs.

Unless your idea of good furniture is particleboard, I'd avoid the Brick as well.

I would buy the furniture somewhere other than the TV. A good electronics store doesn't sell furniture, and vice versa.

If you're willing to spend $5k, I can suggest Cricklewood, Country Living, Sojourn, the stores in Inglewood and SOHO + NADA for starters.

I've heard too many horror stories from people who have bought their cheap, as in quality, furniture. The stories involve not getting delivered what you ordered, getting what you ordered but it was damaged, getting what you ordered and not damaged but it ended up being a piece of crap, and so on.

The one time I did step into a Brick store, a salesgeek either lied to me or was so completely uninformed about what he was selling that he'd have to be borderline ######ed.

if you have a membership or access to a card, Costco would be my recommendation. Selection is limited, but the stuff is great quality and very competitive prices for what you get.

My wife swears by IKEA (she is an architect and works with interior designers). I think IKEA is Swedish for Divorce. I hate building that stuff!

There are plenty of fancy shops springing up on 11th Avenue.

Lazy Boy is a safe bet if you are looking for typical modern day stuff.
Kit Interior Objects on 11th Ave SW carries really good quality furniture.
I'm bad at describing styles but I guess funky might be the word for them.
I've got couches from both stores and I like them both very much.
Good service from both as well.
Bestway is a great place to buy your TV. Excellent service.

It's bad enough trying to put some of that stuff together by yourself. Putting it together with the help of my lady ends with me sleeping on the couch for the night.

I've heard people having problems with Lazyboy. Also, they're incredibly overpriced.

Buy something from the Brick for $600 and it will last you two years. Buy something from Lazyboy for $1200 and it will last you ten years.
That scenario is based on personal experience.
Also, I had a problem with my Lazyboy couch and they came out and fixed it for free. Try callling the brick with a problem and they quickly go into the "do you have your receipt?" routine. Grrr.

Well do you?

Having previously worked in retail, there isn't too much that a store can do if you don't have your receipt (depending on the product).

At both Lazyboy & Bestway they didn't need me to produce a receipt because my info is in their computer systems and they know what I bought and when.

For a tv i would say go to futureshop. Pick your modle and size and search the web for lower prices, print it out and ask them if they will match it. They will. friend of mine that worked there told me about that and i saved about 150 on the camera i got.

I've used Sears for years. Good service and good furniture as well. They actually came out one time and took away the stove we bought because my wife didn't like the color she picked and brought us a new one.
No questions asked.

Sears delivered a washer/dryer to my inlaws. My father-in-law found a scratch on the dryer side. They offered to take it back and get a new one, or just take off $100. He chose the latter.

You been to Lazyboy recently? They don't have anything for $1200 other than chairs. They're trying to go high end. I especially enjoy their Kincaid line that's built with plywood, veneers and staples and doesn't even have English dovetails on the drawers.

And yes, the Brick sucks. Why are you even comparing Lazyboy to the Brick? Compare a Lazyboy couch to an Elite couch - the Elite wins hands down. A Hickory Hill couch absolutely destroys a Lazyboy couch - the Lazyboy couch is like a pile of cheap twigs.
