Default Diabetes and Genetics

Hello All,

I just had a quick question and was looking to see if anyone on the forum could help me out.

Ok so I have a scenario and wanted to know if anyone had any experience with this.

Here is the scenario:

Set 1
A set of parents have three kids. One of the parents (mother) is type 1 diabetic and the other parent does not have any history of diabetes. The eldest of the three children was born prior to the parent getting diabtes. The other two children were born after the parent got diabtes. The parent was also over the age of 25 (I have heard this makes a difference). None of the children have diabetes to date.

Set 2
Another set of parents, have two kids. Both of the parents have diabetes. The mother has type 1 diabtes and the father has borderline type 2. Both the kids were born before the parents were diagnosed with diabetes. Neither of the kids have diabetes to date.

Now let's say if one of the children from parents set 1 and one of the children from parents set 2 get married and have kids. Is there a high risk for their offspring to get diabetes?

Thanks for the help!

-FOB.

I am pretty sure type 2 diabetes is a result of lifestyle.
I have absolutely no genetic links to diabetes. I was diagnosed with it a couple years ago.

Looking back I was drinking a ton of Pepsi and my sweet tooth was happy. With the way kids are eating now a days and becoming less active with video games and tv and such I think type 2 diabetics will become more and more common.

if i am not mistakin', genetic diabetes skip a generation, or where the 2nd generation is at a higher risk then the initial generation, or something along those lines

I have always been told that I am considered a high risk candidate as my grandfather had diabetes, but I have never looked into it more then that, I eat healthy and have never developed a sweet tooth so to say
