Ya, I saw those from my office in Eau Claire as well. Really cool... they almost looked like they skinned the top of the Canterra Tower! I didn't know what they were when I heard them... maybe some fighter jets or something, but it was definitely the Snowbirds.

BTW, anyone remember in 2001 when those two fighter jets were performing training exercises over the city? That was flippin' cool...

There is some sort of serious VIP in the city though... might be related?

I also heard the Tie Domi is staying in the same hotel as that VIP (who is surrounded by Canadian special forces and American secret service agents), but i am guessing they are NOT one and the same! lol....

They flew pretty much straight down 14th Street, and I got a great view as I was driving along. Wouldn't be surprised if there were a couple of extra fender benders this morning as a result. Fortunately, I was stopped at a red light for most of it. (Probably the first and only time I've been glad to be stopped at a red light.)

They did a few laps that took them right over the university, where I watched from the roof of a building. Pretty cool.

As for "big wigs," I'm not sure what you're referring to, but my local MP (for Calgary Southwest) is attending the "President's Dinner" at the Stampede this evening. He's reasonably big...?

Yeah, the 2 guys driving erratically and pointing out the windows in a Dodge truck was me and my buddy. I think I almost died twice on Elbow.

One of my roommates from university flew with in the Snowbirds. His tour with them ended a couple years ago. Other than email I haven't had a chance to talk with him in a while. Last I heard he was back in Bagotville.

It was for the opening of the parade...I sponsored a chuckwagon and they warned everyone last night to keep an eye on their horses and that the planes were going to be flying very low over the grounds...COOL!!!
