What Are You Doing For Canada Day Weekend?
Just wondering what everyone's big plans are for Canada Day weekend. Does the City of Calgary put anything overly great on to celebrate?
Personally I'm driving over to Charlottetown PEI for the Atlantic Superstore Festival of Lights. It's a three day event with concerts on Friday-Saturday-Sunday nights
Acts include:
Friday Night: Matt Mays & El Torpedo, Sam Roberts, The Tragically Hip
Saturday Night: Joel Plaskett and the Emergency, Lennie Gallant
Sunday Night: Headly, Theory of a Deadman, Three Days Grace
Should be a good time (hopefully there's enough alcohol to make Sunday night's lineup entertaining).

Flying to Halifax Wed. Going to the acadia sports dinner thursday, Wade Redden is the speaker at it and he's staying at a buddy's house so we're partying it up with him on Wed. night, then into Halifax for the long weekend, gonna be a killer time. I'll tell Redden to sign with the Flames for cheap.

Damn, those three artists alone should make for a fantastic weekend.
My parents are coming into town for Stampede/checking up on their boy. Dad and I are playing golf this weekend-Thursday at Picture Butte, Friday at Calgary G&CC, and Saturday at Kananaskis. Also on Saturday morning Strathcona Square is having an early Stampede breakfast, so I'll take my folks there as they haven't been to one before.

I will be heading to windemere for the weekend. Friday we are hitting the rapids, then some golf, and wakeboarding for the rest of the weekend. Also a lot of booze will be consumed. We'll probably bust out the landlock once the water gets really choppy.

Nothing too thrilling unfortunately. Maybe spend the day in Downtown Ottawa, soaking up the culture. Then my friend is having a party or something at his place, so I will probably just end up there, having a few Whiskey Sours.

I'll be climbing Chinaman's Peak on Friday. Then I'll go to the zoo with my daughter on Saturday. Monday I'll just relax.

Downtown Ottawa is really great and all, but I feel just as Canadian in Calgary as I do in Ottawa.

Ha. You're mocking me, I love it.
What are you doing on Canada's day? Oh nothing, just spending it in PEI at a three day concert extravaganza, you know, with some popular bands and such, same ole same ole, anyways, should be entertaining but meh, whatever.

Have you been to Ottawa on Canada Day? The entire downtown is closed to cars and the streets are packed with people wearing red and white. Parliament Hill is packed with families watching the Canada Day celebrations while the Byward Market is one enormous party with many bars expanding their patios into adjacent parking lots.
That being said, I'll be spending my Canada Day travelling to a cottage on Georgian Bay.
