Default Broken Trail? (Duvall miniseries filmed in Calgary area)

So I was browsing a few news sites and it said that a Duvall miniseries called Broken Trail for AMC (American Movie Classics) was a huge hit so far. The pictures made it looks exactly like that Costner and Duvall film and it looked like it was filmed in Alberta.

I checked out IMDB and it turns it that it was. That's pretty interesting but where can one watch this series? I haven't heard any mention of it in the Calgary papers or on local TV. Is AMC some sort of U.S. only cable channel?

The film features Duvall as a reluctant cowboy who encounters several young Chinese girls sold into American in the late 1800s.

Duvall must be an Alberta fan. He's done Open Range, Brad Pitt's new Jessey James movie, and this new stuff. Probably the cowboy in him that finds our remote rurality appealing

I've seen him at Eau Claire a few times when he was filming, I think he stays at the Sheraton.

Ya he stays a the Sheraton. I know some girls that worked on Broken Trail and we all went out to that Mexican place by the French maid...(can't remember what it's called). Duvall is quite the Spanish dancer.

He refused to film some movie about Texas in Alberta on the principle that he thought it should actually be shot in Texas. That sounds right to me, I wouldn't want a movie about Alberta being filmed in Montana.

Actually, he had some not too kind words for the actors up here.

"I prefer not to work in Canada. I prefer to work in my own country. There are better actors down here. That's why they have to import so many actors for their Canadian productions," said Duvall.

But at least he likes the mountains.

"I can't say I've seen every mountain range in the world but those Rocky Mountains are the most spectacular I've ever seen."

No kidding. I get the appealing landscape and all, but I think that if possible, if a movie is taking place in Texas, it should be filmed in Texas.

Makes it that more real.

When Duvall came back to film this new mini-series, the Okotoks Western Wheel - of all newspapers - called him out on those remarks about western actors and he ate his crow really well . . . . apologized in fact.

Duvall was pretty fantastic in Open Range, also filmed in this area.

Brad Pitt's new movie Jesse James, filmed here, should be coming out pretty soon. Duvall wasn't in that one. It was being filmed here simultaneously when Duvall's mini-series was being filmed.

yeah, Duvall was very apologetic when he came back to film here. He was also a regular at a friend's restaurant and was by all accounts a fantastic person.
