'Canes re-sign forward Dylan Hunter

Raleigh, NC – Carolina Hurricanes General Manager Hanna Sniper announced today the signing of soon to be restricted free agent forward Dylan Hunter. As per club policy, terms and conditions of the deal were not disclosed.

DYLAN HUNTER, played in 86 games for the Hurricanes previous AHL club the Lowell Lock Monsters this past season recording 56 points (21 goals, 35 assists) and 122 penalty minutes. The 5’11” 198 lbs. forward has posted 369 points (106 goals, 263 assists) and 240 penalty minutes in 315 career games playing for the London Knights of the OHL. The native of Quebec was signed by Hurricanes GM Hanna after Dylan was overlooked by every NHL scout in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

Dylan will continue his development and captain the Hurricanes newly based Albany River Rats for the upcoming 2006-07 season. “We couldn’t be happier about Dylan’s process under the Hurricanes and hope that he’ll continue to catch the eye of league scouts and one day have the skill level to reflect the huge numbers that he’s been able to put up in the past” commented Hanna to media after the release “He’s a real good kid, there was some interest from other teams leading up to the draft but we quickly made it clear that Dylan was part of our long term plans in Carolina, it’s nice to see that he was as commented to the Hurricanes as we have been to him these past 3 seasons.”

The Carolina Hurricanes would like to thank agent Martin of Quan Repres
entation for his first class, second to none professionalism in being as committed to getting Dylan Hunter back on the ice and the Hurricanes are. The Hurricanes look forward to future talks.

GM's need to take a lesson from the wonderful GM from Carolina on how to treat us AGENTS. In the world of the CPHL flattery gets you everything.

Mr. Hunter was very pleased to sign with the Hurricanes and looks forward to making a the big club sometime in the future.

I will second this praise for Agent Martin.

My latest negotiation for one of his client was quick, very friendly and professional.

We were able to hammer out a new in under 15 minutes that I think both of use were happy with.

I havn't had any issues with agents for ages but since this is an obvious butt-kissing thread I will agree that Martin is doing an excellent job. I have had a number of free agent negotiations with him and they have all been fair and swift.

The Isles have always enjoyed smooth negotiations with Quan Rep. If he asks for more money, he has a reason for it... not just because it's a "rule" to not accept the first offer a GM gives you.

Often, he'll even accept the first offer I throw at him.

Martin was a great GM to deal with so it should be of little surprise that he's a good agent to deal with as well. That's why it was great when he was able to re-enter the league as an agent (same with Spike). I enjoy positive relationships with all the agents to be honest.

Former agent Rouge was the hard ass.

Yeah I gotta say, I really like the way that Martin is dealing with his players. He is swift in contract talks and always fair in what he asks for. He really has a good grasp of value and if you give him fair offers he will treat you with respect as well. All in all I gotta say that this group of agents are very good to deal with.

I love the agents - I've professed my love for them publically at Shanks in front of witnesses. I've always had great negotiations with them. I've enjoyed, their addition to the game. At the same time, I've enjoyed the open debates over the years, the obvious public posturing and the required brown nosing.

I think this thread needs to be in the CPHL Hall of Fame. I love it.

Thanks for all the warm comments and I look forward to perhaps one day winning AGENT of the year (as voted on by the GM's)

Good luck to all GM come July 1st it is going to be crazy
