Ugh, thanks Calgary. Car stolen.
I park early at Dalhousie park and ride, way out of the city core. Or at least I did. Got back to it after work today to find it stolen.
But what I want to know is, who the f*** would steal a 12 year old car with over 174,000 k's on it!
I guess along with Enmax, property taxes, inflation, condo fees and interest rates, crime is going up too in this town.
Use your club's people.

What kind of car... you'd be suprised how easy it is to spot a vehicle if you have a messageboard looking for it.

Dark blue Civic LX, 1994, Calgary Flames aerial puck, pasenger side rust patch near back wheel. DTA 464 plate, 4 door.
Between Calgary Puck and Calgary Police....that's a double dose of CP on the case!

Very sorry to hear, Flame On. As I set here in the midst of deciding whether to buy a car that is very highly likely to be targeted, this is the kind of stuff that makes me think twice.
I hope you get you car back man, best of luck. Nothing feels worse than having ones own private possessions violated. The best way to deal with a crook like that is to cut their hands off. And no, I'm not kidding.

I make sure to put the "club" on the car, even if it's just for looks, it will deter thieves who don't have much time on their hands.

I have seen some news reports that rank Honda's among the highest stolen cars. I think there may be a high demand for parts. For your sake I hope its not being torn down as we speak.

Pretty much exactly Fotze, thanks. Although no bra on the front but hey maybe there is one on there now....
Kind of weird knowing I reported it, then saw a news story about a stolen car that killed a couple of drivers in another vehicle tonight. I was worried it might be mine and I couldn't take it if it had killed a few people.

That really sucks,I feel for you.
I drive rusted out beaters. But most can't.
Put a toggle kill-switch in your next one.
Or a GPS tracking thingamiggigy.
That really sucks, can a dirt cheap bike get you to Dalhousie?

Sorry to hear that..... I think a club is forsure a necessity here in Saskatchewan.... Car theft (although lower than 5 years ago) is out of control! My vehicle has a chip in the key, so without the key it can't be started. I realize that there's probably a way around the security system, but its joy riders that steal cars around here. I club up my vehicle merely to prevent a smashed window.
Anyways hopefully this gets resolved shortly for you!

I think park and ride lots are notorious for car thefts.
I had my older truck stolen from one of those lots a couple of years ago.
Also re: 12yr old vehicle. I think its easier for thieves to steal older cars now. The new cars with remote entry, theft systems, etc. probably prove too difficult for small time thieves.

Sorry about what happened to you, but it seems strange that you'd blame Calgary and/or the economy for the incident.
Cars have been going missing in Calgary for as long as I can remember!

I had my car stolen from Brentwood Station a few months ago. Luckily, the cops found it parked at Schanks in Crowfoot a week later. Minimal damage (just the keyhole was ripped out) too. If you're lucky they might be able to find it parked somewhere. I'll keep an eye out for yours.

I drive a crappy old minivan (94 Caravan), and it got stolen from Fish Creek station last year. Guess where they found it...Canyon meadows station, which is the next station over! Couldn't the theif just as easily have taken the train?? It was pretty funny.

But what if they were caught on the C-Train without a ticket Stealing a car a much better idea
Personally, I've never had my car stolen, and I'm thankful for that. I live in a smaller town with low major crime. I did however have my car stereo stolen out of my car when it was in my driveway. Quiet neighbourhood, only crime that ever takes place is jaywalking. Woke up October 11, 2001 (note the odd date, hence me not forgetting) and the window was smashed and stereo gone.

You have my sympathy. Same thing happened to me in 2004. I used to park at the Zoo and take the train downtown. I had a '96 Neon. Chrysler products from that time are one of the easiest cars to steal. All you do is smash the cover on the steering column and you're off to the races.
The sad part was, on the last day before the insurance company was prepared to write the vehicle off the cops called and told me they had found that piece of crap. Didn't surprise me the vehicle was found in Forest Lawn.

I keep hoping someone will steal my falling apart 91 dodge spirit, so I have an excuse to get a new car. I don't even lock it anymore, cause there's nothing of value in it anyways. I guess the next step is to leave the keys in the ignition....

I know you said that somewhat tongue in cheek, but I seem to recall something about that possibly voiding your insurance. Anybody know for sure?

Have you looked at the book value on a 16 year old dodge spirit?
