Default Where to buy firecrackers?

Does anyone know where to buy firecrackers in and around Calgary. I kind of looked on the internet and found a bylaw that makes them illegal to sell in Calgary but are there any places around Calgary one could buy some. Some friends and I are going up north on a fishing trip over the Canada Day long weekend and would love to pull a little prank on one of my buddies. Any info would be appriciated.

I'm pretty sure Fire Crackers as a whole are illegal. You CAN purchase fireworks in gas stations in small towns. I know Turner Valley has them, think the General Store out at Water Valley has them as well.

But Fire Crackers (cherry bombs....), never found them in anywhere in Alberta. Only place I can think of that my have a fighting chance would be China Town.

They are not illegal as a whole. Just illegal within city limits

Are firecrackers illegal, period?

I agree with you on fireworks.

Does anyone also know if it might be easier to get them in Saskatchewan. A couple of the guys on the trip are coming from there as well.

I'm pretty sure you can find firecrackers and fireworks in that general store in Bearspaw.

For those of us who have never been there- where is Bearspaw?

(Google maps doesn't show it.)

I can't find an official gov't of Canada site, but there are tonnes of other sites, including municiple sites, that all agree that firecrackers are illegal in Canada.

Pitt Meadows
Chilliwack
Port Moody and Coquitlam

If you want firecrackers, you would have to head south into Montana just prior to July 4th. That is the only reasonably close place you could get them that I know of.

Of course if you want to bring them home with you it may be a bit tricky getting them across the border.

Hide em in your socks I guess?
