Default ET: Quake Wars

Anyone following this game, and the eventual release. I play Wolfenstein: ET now, and this looks even better.

http://www.enemyterritory.com

I suggest everyone that is interested watch the trailer. Looks great!!

I played ET (the original) a lot for a while. I started when it was just the beta, and then the original 6 maps, but then got busy and when I came back I was just owned on every server. It takes time to learn the new maps, and ketting killed every 2 minutes makes it harder.

Geez, that's not the ET I remember. I'm guessing this isn't free like the first one was...

The original ET is still around; I play it frequently. This is the extended version of ET, with the battle set in the future instead of WW2. I doubt that it will be a free download again, but I think a game like this, where its possible to put thousands of hours in is very much worth 50 bucks.

I loved playing the engineer with rifle grenades. I don't care if I die a lot as long as I get the objectives complete. It sure is nice having a medic follow and cover/revive me on Oasis.

Hey I could work there too!!

You hiring?

A couple days ago the server I played on got the LOTR maps for us to play. The Minis Triliath (sp) is a hour long map, and man was that ever fun. 15 guys per team, axis going up, allies trying to stop them. Had a ball.

Heh, we've got one guy that I swear has a built in aimbot.. so for a while my only way to compete was to become awesome at lobbing in rifle grenades from all over the place.

The only problem with that is everyone else gets to double pistols faster.

Right now I'm a panzer whore though.

EDIT: Oh my god we tried that Minas Tirith map.. what a debacle. Mind you the most we ever have is 8, and I think we had six that day.

We found this cool star wars map though where you have to steal parts out of the Falcon, that's a pretty fun map. There's even a Sarlac pit!

What is ET? (other than an alien who phones home)

I'm guessing by the first post it's a game called Enemy Territory.

Probably 1st person shooter, if my guess is correct.

Multiplayer online first person shooter. Maps based on WW2.

Free download, try it out.

Which server do you play on?

Ever looked over the side on Minas Tirith? Gives me the creeps.

But how does it relate to old games like Quake and Wolfenstein?? Is it made up of old characters or levels from those games or something? And why are there star wars maps?

I haven't played Quake, but its basically an upgrade to the old Wolfenstein games. Like I said, online based first person shooter. The reason you can have star wars maps is because some servers allow you to run custom maps.

It was going to a followup to Return to Castle Wolfenstein, but for some reason the plug was pulled. However, they did allow the developer to complete the multiplayer online portion and release it for free. It is a heck of a lot of fun.

But if you want to start out look for a server that is newb friendly. Otherwise you will spend a lot of time dead. As long as you find a server that is willing to balance the teams, it is great.

Who on here has a server they could fire up some nights? Might be fun to get a bunch of CPers on. Although, by the sounds of it, Photon and Azure better be on opposite teams.

There are lots of maps. The Simpsons/Springfield map was neat. Although I found a bunch of these 'hommage' maps can kind of suck unless special care was taken to balance them.

And what version of ETPro is it up to now?
