i like both ogilvy and monty's chances
my picks at the start were funk, cink and furyk
all three are still in contention, but funk had a bad round today at +5 that might have taken him out of it
good to see weir staying in it at +2 thru 8, hope he can put together a charge for the weekend, although he has a history of flopping come saturday and sunday

Yeah Weir generally has one bad round that knocks him out of contention. If he can stay in the hunt today then anything can happen on the weekend.

How about David Duvall??? Wow! I didn't think he'd ever break 80 in a major again. On pace for a 66?!?!

I was confused. I was sitting here thinking, no the US open isn't until late August / early September. We just finished the French Open and Wimbledon starts shortly.

Well after all those struggles in Majors Phill is now there looking to win his third straight. All of a sudden no one seems to have more of a leaderboard presence on Sunday at a major than Lefty. Weir right now is tied for 8th after a decent round of 71. Winged foot is certainly proving to be one mother of a course and if tommorrows conditions play to suit the +7 that won the 74 tourney there could very well be the score that takes this one. Than consider how much better the equipment is today and that says one mean golf course.

Philly and Monty blow it on the last hole to gift wrap it for Ogilvie.

I would have almost bet my house that there would be a playoff.
Too bad for Lefty, but he had his chances to win.

Ogilvy played the best tee to green imo. However, he must feel like the luckiest guy in the world right now. I can't believe Phil blew it!

Montgomerie's choke job was more shocking to me than Phil's. After the incredible putt he made on 17 for birdie, and a decent tee shot on 18 you would've thought he was a lock to par the hole. That second shot was almost unimaginable.
Phil lived by the sword and then it killed him on the last hole.

Rather admirable job by Phil in front of the mikes afterwards. Pretty much every one of the 15 questions sent his way were "so how does it feel to lose" a Major this way?" but reworded in different ways.
Unbelievable use of the 4 wood from that deep rough lie. Looked like me on that shot when I try to use woods on anything but the short stuff... Guess the 10 ft rule doesn't apply on the Tour....

To bad for Phil being such a BIG CHOOOOOOOOOKE!
Also Monty hasn't won on US soil let alone winning a major there

Mike Richards was talking about Phil this morning with his regular golf guy and they were indicating not so much that Phil was an idiot, but a bit of a cad and not liked by the other tour players... Funny, I always thought Tiger was the jerk, and Phil was the big likable lug. Makes me glad Phillip phell phlat on his phace.
Monty on the other hand, seems like a bit of a blowhard (maybe the uptight english accent - sorry Englishfolks), but it would have been nice to have seen Monty get the winning a major thing off his back - mostly so we don't have to hear about it every time Monty gets into contention at a major.
It would have been really cool to see St. Paddy win it, because he seems like a really genuine guy that you could sit down and have a beer with...
