Default Last Call For Mr. Dressup

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servl...nt/Television/

"After a decade in reruns, Mr. Dressup is being pulled off the air. The pioneering children's TV show will be removed from CBC's weekday lineup on July 3 and will air on Sundays only. On Sept. 3, it will end altogether."

Man, it'll be weird not seeing this guy's face on TV when I flip through the channels on the mornings I call in sick.

That may be one of the reasons while I still stick with the CBC - I recall watching Mr. Dressup and The Friendly Giant.

Well, that's a shame. Ernie Coombs (Mr. Dressup) was such a great artist and it has been a few years since his death - But PBS never stopped Mr. Rogers after Fred Rogers died.

Do they still show the Friendly Giant? I'll never forget the theme song. Also - who was that guy who played a guitar and crawled through a tree-trunk to get to the forest place?

Why do shows like this seem to fall out of favour? Its not like the 4 year olds know it is a rerun. Same with almost any of the young kid fads. Why would they care if Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have been on for 15 years? Shouldn't a 'good' show with a backlog of episodes be able to be recycled until the technology of TV changes? (that is, B&W to colour, or things like that that make it obvious that the show is old - or does that matter to a child?)

To quote Baseketball:

"It appears time finally just ran out for the old c**ksucker. Ernie Coombs was 84; his hairpiece was 29.
