Default Stamps - Riders

What a start for Hank and the stamps, up 17-3 after 1. Nik Lewis scores the second touchdown after literally hurdling a defender.

Nice drive by the Riders there, strangely the teams going into the 40 mph wind have scored all 3 TDS.

Looks like the Stamps forgot that a football game is 60 minutes instead of 15. They are letting Saskatchwan run right over them in the 2nd quarter.

20-20, pretty entertaining game.

Joseph is looking really great this game, and the Stamps offense is having one of their best games too.

Personally, I find games where both teams are playing well to be entertaining. This game has featured both teams alternate playing like ass.

Great catch by Thurmon in the end zone.

43-20 the score for Calgary. Really starting to pull away.

53-36 Calgary.

No turnovers for the offense, great game by them for sure.

Defense didn't really play well at all.

The stamps looked more like mid-90s stampeders than the current version today with spectacular offence and loose d.

They didn't play great defence, no. But consider this:

20 points in the first half for the Riders. None in the 3rd quarter. They shut them down when they needed to and the Riders 16 second half points came in the last few minutes of garbage time after the game was over.

They said on CBC this is the most points the Riders have given up at home since 1910.

I like the stat that the Stamps got points on all but 1 drive. Sandro's money - he deserves a raise, a long term contract, etc etc.

I feel like there's still some room for improvement...some catchable balls dropped, etc, and the defence went soft in the 4th...but thrashing them for 53 points makes me feel a whole lot better.

Sandro is the MAN!!! He is becoming to be Mr. Consistency. He is by far the best kicker and most entertaining in the CFL this season.

As for the defense, they did well. Other than the 2nd quarter, defense shut the Riders' offense down. Yep Riders scored over 30 pts but 16 points of those came from when the Stamps defense was just taking it easy and score was out of range.

As for offense, good for Hank and Thurman to go back to Rider Nation and play well. It's also good to see Danny Mac in action. I was waiting for him to scramble like Hank or Joseph.

I got a good laugh after the game ended about Danny Barrett shooting his mouth at the half saying Burris was going to toss a few INT's. Well that didn't happen tonight

What a blowout. I hope Roy Shivers and Danny Barrett have lifetime jobs in the Rider organization. Theses guys are just terrible.

Not a huge CFL buff but weren't the riders one of the worst teams in the CFL for an extended period before those two? They are in tough competing in the west, calgary and edmonton are almost always decent at least and BC since Buono switched have been really strong as well.

True, but when hired in the early '00s, Shivers came out with a 5? year plan...it's year 7 with no Grey Cup appearances (although close in '04). They've been able to find talent, just haven't been able to put it together to get results. I believe that their overall record since taking over the team is a losing one, have had a winning record once. Up until tonight, the the Rider fans have generally been satisfied with what they've done, have been very patient waiting for the team to go from 'competitive' to contendors...from what I'm reading, their fan-base have had enough.

Yeah after hearing Barrett's prediction, I thought to myself that this guy is an a-hole. I used to like and respect the guy but now I changed my mind. I was hoping the Stamps was listening to that interview and kicked the heck out of them. Maybe they did and I am so glad that the Stamps smoked them in the 2nd half so Barrett will learn that he should never shoot his mouth off on TV.

My prediction, Barrett and Shivers won't last the season. George Cortez will be the new head coach sometime this season.
