Default Al-Zarqawi’s death could shake al-Qaida

Interesting piece in todays Washington Post about this angle.

Quote:
Until he was killed Wednesday by U.S. forces, the Jordanian-born guerrilla served as Osama bin Laden's proxy in Iraq, attracting hundreds if not thousands of foreign fighters under the al-Qaeda banner. At the same time, Zarqawi had grown into a strategic headache for al-Qaeda's founders by demonstrating an independent streak often at odds with their goals.
Quote:
"A number of al-Qaeda figures were uncomfortable with the tactics he was using in Iraq," said Paul Wilkinson, chairman of the Center for the Study of Terrorism and Political Violence at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. "It was quite clear with Zarqawi that as far as the al-Qaeda core leadership goes, they couldn't control the way in which their network affiliates operated."

Yeah, really shook them to the core by the looks of it.

I don't think will be suprising to anyone that the terrosists that follow will become even more violent. They have big shoes to fill, and will do their best to step into them. The more the west celebrates the death of al Zarqawi, the more hatred that is going to be generated.

Also, Zarqawi and bin Laden were loosely connected. The only thing that really connected them was the Pentagon wagging of the dog.

These americans think the war is going to be over but in real life they just added fuel to the fire. If Captain Z is dead, another terrorist will take his place.

Its a problem you can't ignore. I would rather kill the terrorists, even if others are there to take their place.

You can't shove this under the carpet thinking its going to go away.

The war is just getting started now. It's going to get dirty. More than it already is.

How so?

They're trying to deal with the problem as it exists right now. The war may not be justified, but we all know Al-Q is now working in Iraq, and frankly, I would rather deal with them there, then here.

Meanwhile, three detainees at Guantanomo hang themselves with bedsheets and the boss of the camp says it's an "act of war" against the United States.

So... what constitutes a terrorist attack, or an act of war? Pretty much anything they say. And I guess there will be suckers out there who will buy this bull**** hook, line and sinker.

Hopefully he has a chance to meet Allah or a 500 pound laser guided bomb very soon.

Keep killing them.
