That's crazy. Never thought I'd see him leave CBC.

Good move, he is a real professional at what he does - it's nice to see them bringing in recognized talent instead of their usual hacks for sport, i think of their coverage of the Canadian NBA teams when they first began and shudder.

That is nuts.

However, with the CBC not part of the Olympics past 2008 (maybe ever again, based on how far away they were in bidding on the Vancouver and London games), it makes sense that he gets off of CBC, where his bread and butter for most sports watchers is the Olympics.

After 2008, CBC sports will likely lose a lot more people to CTV...which is too bad, because CBC do the Olympics and Amatuer sports in this country a lot better the CTV ever has in the many years I have been watching.

What exactly has Williams been doing at CBC since they stopped the Jays games? Other than Olympics covergage I never see the guy.

WEll if it means we have to see him less than I am all for it. I would hope that he would retire but I guess we are not that lucky.

Hopefully this doesn't mean we have to see more of that chick that traded off with him during the Olympics though. If there is one thing even worse than Brian Williams it was her.

The only thing I can think of is he's the pre-game/half time panel host for CFL games.

CBC needs less hockey, more news, arts

CBC Television should run more news, arts and culture, less sports and fewer commercials, says a report from an independent policy group.

I agree. What was with them cutting out the press conference last night to join regularly scheduled programming. Just stupid. At least let Ron and Don say goodnight

So they want to turn it into PBS? The Arts and Culture is what I hate about the CBC.

CBC takes a lot of justified flack, but it does have some things I really like. Arts an Culture is the stuff I least appreciate. I only take so much Royal Winnipeg Ballet followed by Buffy Ste.Marie specials.

Why? So they can effectively kill every remaining source of advertising income?

Great, lets just fork over all of our tax dough so we can watch some more Rita Mcneil and Anne Murray. What a joke. Who do they put on these policy groups?

Actually, that was part of the article. They think CBC should not have any advertising!

Wow. That sounds completely irresponsible.

Wouldnt it be great to have that become an even larger national burden on the ol' taxpayers.

Paying even more taxes for trash we dont want to watch. Perfect.

I can't belive that CBC might not have the NHL in a few years, that would be crazy after being on there for over 50 years. Good for Williams to move to CTV, at least we will know what time it is in Vancouver and on the east coast at the next winter games.

Stuff hockey, its the CFL that needs to get off the CBC and their terrible coverage with Lightening Cheese burger Walby. I swear if I have to listen to one more tirade on how we should appreciate the fat O Lineman more I think I am going to scream.

You obviously should appreciate the O-line more. It all starts up front. You can have the best QB/WR/RB tandem in the league but you'll go nowhere without an O-line.
