Default Hail damage insurance claims

With the recent outbreak of hail storms in Calgary; my car has become one of the latest victims of hail damage. I've never made a claim for hail damage before; but does anybody know how this will affect my premiums? If it matters, I am insured through Meloche Monnex and my hood is made of aluminum alloy.

As far as I know most insurance doesn't cover hail does it?

Depends on your comprehensive coverage...

My past experience with Meloche Monnex has been great in these situations. I've had two situations where I've called to ask for their advice on whether I should make a claim or pay out of pocket, and I was pleased with their candid answers.

Have you called them yet?

I don't know if this is truly the part about it but I did a quick search on the website.

Comprehensive coverage protects your car against loss or damage other than the collision coverage. This would include falling or flying objects, missiles and vandalism.

I've tried calling them but their lines are busy...not "We're sorry for the wait" but an actual Busy ring tone... I imagine that I'm not the only one who is looking for help today.

Yes it does, I had my House Shingles replaced about 5 years ago. Simply contact your Insurance Company and they will walk you through it.

Obviously any claim will increase your premiums for minimum of three years... ie make sure its worth it.

Plus I know a few people that have had their Cars repaired as well....

The Car Claims are under your Home Insurance.

I received compensation for my hood being damaged by hail a number of years ago.

i think it was 1997 there was a huge hail storm ... my car required over 5000 in body repairs and the house got a new roof, deck and fence painting.

it didnt affect my insurance rates and frankly i didnt ask them why. i figured why bring it to their attention!
