Mission Impossible 3
So I went and saw the first of the summer blockbusters this afternoon and I know there is a big hate on for Tom Cruise this last year or so, but if you see this movie, I dont know how you can deny that it was pretty damn cool action flick. Sure, there were a couple hokey scenes near the end and some of the stunts that TC's character does are a little extreme to the point of ridiculous, but I found myself really into this movie. Also, a big plus for the movie was Phillip Seymour Hoffman, he was an awesome bad guy, and was really good in this one, but when his PSH not??
So, I totally recommend this one to anybody who likes a good action movie, leave your brain at the door, you wont need it, and try and put aside your hate for Tom Cruise. Tom Cruise may be a freak, but when he's acting, I find it easy to forget about the scientology garbage. Remember, Tom Cruise isn't the IMF agent, Ethan Hunt is.
8 out of 10 for me!!

Just got back from the 11 PM show, it was actually pretty decent. Actually, went with a bunch of friends, and my one friend always has this tendency to laugh during the realy sad, dramatic parts, normally towards the end.
Well, near the end of MI:3, their is one I guess, sorta tense or dramatic moment, the whole theater is quiet as everyone is watching, and then you hear this low chuckling/giggling, which just got louder and louder, coming from said friend, eventually it become so infectious, that the whole row began to laugh, and I'm sure most didn't even know what they were laughing about. Needless to say, the dramatic moment was lost on me.

As if often the case with trilogy type movies, MI3 was the third best of the series. The original MI was far more intelligent and compelling, and MI2 had a nice rawness about it.
Having said that, it was a good popcorn flick.

I actually want to see this movie, after having no interest in the first two.
JJ Abrams is a smart guy with Lost etc, and Philip Seymour Hoffman is a brilliant actor and I want to see him in a popcorn villian role.. but Tom Cruise.. oh Tom Cruise

I'm boycotting Tom Cruise for being a tool.
Also, this isn't a Mission Impossible movie. These are just James Bond ripoffs with Tom Cruise as the star. They should have called it "Agent Hunt III" or something lame like that.
Why could we never get a Mission Impossible film that was true to the original? A series where an ENSEMBLE cast works together to pull off a job, more reminiscent of Oceans 11, etc. where they would work to con a criminal or government organization so well that the bad guys wouldn't know what hit them and they would leave no trace.
Instead we get MI:I which basically turned into the Fugitive with Tom Cruise isolated and trying to clear his name and blowing up everything in sight. Then we have MI:II with Tom Cruise showing his long haircut flowing in the wind as John Woo's pigeons flap about him in slow motion and he blows up everything in sight...and now MI:III which is just more of Tom blowing things up as an invincible superagent (while the other stars are not) and generally being a tool.

put me down as part of the tom cruise boycott...although it's not the only reason I'll take a pass. the movie looks very formulaic and predictable, and seems like the exact same thing as last time.
I'll just wait for the next Bourne movie.

I saw it today... by accident.
I actually went to go see Silent Hill, but the projector broke. The usher gave us all free passes, which we pocketed. In the theatre next to us, Mission Impossible was just starting, so we snuck in.
All in all, it was entertaining enough to keep me awake at least. It wasn't that great though. Lots of loud noises and cliche interpersonal relationships. Nothing that I would call that surprising.

I gotta agree with Hack&Lube too. My Tom Cruise boycott started after I watched War of the Worlds. I try to avoid his movies now at all cost. I also agree that Mission Impossible the movies have nothing to do with the TV series. TV show was a example of teamwork, Movies are an example of Tom Cruise promoting Tom Cruise.
