Not me. When you come out from the game and not too long after find out a man was killed after being run over by the LRT, it puts things into perspective pretty quickly. The Flames will live to play another day, September isn't that far way. That man that the train hit though will not live to see another day and all of his family has to deal with it. It is a game after all and people need to remember that.

Its a game. Its like playing Cards with your best buddies. You win some...you lose some. In the end the Flames mean nothing to us, other than something to take our minds off the daily grind and mundane.
Find another team and another sport if you have to......

see the application for the CPHL on our main page...LOL

Haha! Last nights loss isn't even bugging me. They played so poorly last night that I wish they had never made the playoffs.

I really struggled to come to terms with the 04 loss vs Tampa, but this one isn't too bad. They clearly didn't deserve to win. I think of all the time I invested in watching every game they played this year and in some sense I'm glad it's over. It's nice out and now I can go about my life, spend some more time outside and enjoy the spring.

This loss isn't nearly as bad as the one in 04. It still sucks though. They were beat by a team that looked better than them this year. Now it is time to look forward to next year and get back to being productive at work. lol

For me, this loss hurts more than 04--because my expectations were higher. In 04, I really felt that the team gave it everything they had, and it just wasn't quite enough. That's a lot better than a team that suddenly discovers that they can't put together 60 minutes of good hockey right when the playoffs start.

In the end, though--it really IS just a game. None of us are affected by this loss personally or professionally.

Maybe now I can get some work done on my dissertation....

If you were as old as Cheese and had his wisdom, you would know seasons come and go . . . . . .

Here's a story about taking things a little too seriously . . . . in cricket.

When David Frith came to write his study of cricket suicides, By His Own Hand, he emphasised the fact that the incidence of suicide among Test cricketers was much higher than average suicide rates. The book covered 80 suicides: just over 10 years later he was moved to update it, having come upon a further 70. Discussing his conclusions with this newspaper later, Frith explained that "cricket, because it is so monopolistic, because it swallows you up before spitting you out, because it enfolds you and plays on the mind, filling you with confusion and self-doubt, is by far the major sport for suicides".

http://football.guardian.co.uk/Colum...721146,00.html

Now, see the positives here? The Flames don't play cricket. And by God, neither do you.

I think Hrudey and McLean's little consoling speach at the end of the game helped a bit.

For me the worst part of it is knowing that Edmonchuck played like utter crap and made it into the second round. I want Deadmonton done in 4 games and I'll be fine.

In a strange way, I feel relieved. I'm disappointed, but I hope it results in adding an exciting player or 2.

It wasn't really a huge upset. Anaheim had the 2nd best winning percentage in the league since January I believe. The only reason they finished in 6th was because of their poor start.

It makes me wish that Anaheim had been consistent all season long as they could have finished at the top of the Pacific Division.

Then Anaheim could have played Colorado in the first round, Dallas could have played Nashville and the Flames could have faced San Jose... and we could have lost anyways. Aw, forget it...

My mindset with sports is enjoy the highs, don't let the lows get to you. That's not to say some moments aren't hard to deal with - e.g. Game 6/7 against T-bay. But in general this stuff really doesn't get to me anymore. Sports should be fun. If its not fun - you're taking it too seriously.

Things to look forward too:
- Baseball season is already underway
- The NHL draft is approaching (my favourite day of the year by far)
- World Cup of Soccer
- Whatever else you're into.

In principle, I agree. But part of the process for me is mourning my team's losses. I'll get over it--but I'd be lying if I said it didn't hurt.

It's a tough day today... but not as bad as I thought it would be.

I was more ****ed off after Mondays game than I was last night.

I promised myself I would give my self a couple of days break from CP so I wouldn't have to see trolls and the trade Iggy, Kipper and Sutter for Conroy and a bag of puck threads. But its not as bad as I thought it would be, plus I'm at work and there is nothing really else to do here.. except work that is.

The worst part about it that half of my office are Oiler fans... its been a long morning. Any ne know where I can get some San Jose Sharks backgrounds?? I have a few peoples desktops to mess with when people are on coffee breaks. I think I'll check out the Official San Jose site.

True, you can't take this too seriously. I just know that I will enjoy the rest of the playoffs immensely.

After that I'll have to slowly get into the MLB season. Not very hyped on that though, and I despise the CFL.

Less than 5 months until the '06-'07 Season!

are you sure you're not upset because you're listening to terrible music?

Personally, I have changed a lot as a fan. Maybe its part of getting older. But I used to care so much more. Right now I couldn't give a crap. They lost. I'll live. In fact, I haven't thought twice about it. Slept like a baby last night. My life is more important to me than some millionaire hockey players who are there to entertain us. Hockey is a great game, and its fun to watch, but its a game. Go out and live your life!

I'm bummed, but...
I think I will be a much more productive member of society and my household now, with all of the extra time not watching Hockey and getting some sleep.
My wife and boss are thankful.
