Default Remember 80s music?

Well this person sure did. link

Holy cow. I've seen a lot of 80's music lists, but never one like this. And all linked to the videos as well, from back in the days when Muchmusic & MTV actually primarily played videos.

There are songs on here I'm sure I've only heard once or twice in the last 20 years. And for many there is a good reason for that, but others are classics.

You know what is really ****ing me off right now? Just this morning I was watching the awesome "Tears Are Not Enough" charity single by all those 80s Canadian artists and totally having a ball seeing Neil Young before he was too old, Geddy Lee being awesome, the requisite Bryan Adams, Corey Hart, Mark Holmes from Platinum Blonde, the guy from Loverboy, and then that famous shot of Gretzky and Paul Coffey along with the All Star team singing along...

It was on Youtube. Now the video is gone and I can't find it at all. What happened? Was it removed? I loved that video.

Anybody know where I can find it?

Funny piece of trivia, the hockey scene from the Tears are not enough video with Gretzky and others singing along with fans in the background was filmed at the saddledome during the last all star game played in Calgary. And if you look closely enough you'll see the Captains miulleted head bobbing to the music there.

I would love to catch that again if I could figure out where the heck to find the video! I was in absolute stiches yesterday watching Neil young stagger around in hippie gear trying to hide his fading hairline (this is before his hat days) surrounded by 80s glam artists and fashions coupled with Canadian country singers right off the farm and then SCTV alumni like John Candy and Eugene Levy + random Canadian celebrities standing in the crowd singing.

They had some hilarious duets or groups like Mark Holmes from Platinum Blonde in full 80s hairsprayed giant blonde hair and full New Wave suit and thin tie standing along with some giant black woman and miscellaneous guy with 80s moustache in a boring sweater. I think Paul Shaffer, Letterman's drummer was in there too.

Corey Hart looks like he does in all his videos, like he's about to sweat every drop of water out of his body and then puke. Bryan Adams never seems to age. Then I was awed by the insanely high vocals by Geddy Lee of Rush and that guy from Loverboy, I've never heard a male singer hit an octave in full volume without falsetto like that.

Then there's the great All-Star hockey shot that's pretty much the money shot of the video I think. That's the only part they ever show when the clip is in the news.

Aldo Nova "Fantasy" has GOT to be the best Canadian rock video EVER.

Guitar lasers? How are you going to top that?

That's Mike Reno......the guy sure packed the pounds on over the years. No way he's fitting into his classic red leather pants any more.

This is a great link, thanks! Not that I ever had any interest in revisiting the days of teased hair and tights, but you gotta love the songs. Some of these videos are hilarious!

Just a fantastic find. I could (and likely will) spend hours browsing through the list:

However for now here are a couple of my faves:

Talk Talk "Its My Life" : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5jMvE8Vrj0
TransX "Living on Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mIRbQk7VWk (this one is actually so horrible but its a must watch because of the tremendously high cheese factor)

The only shame is its missing a couple of the best 80s videos. Billy Ocean's Loverboy and Fleetwood Mac's Everywhere. Ah well.

Oooh but I did find the Fleetwood Mac one youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kL9jZ...leetwood%20Mac

Yeah, I've spent entirely too long there, and then following the links off You Tube as well. Where else are you going to find Max Headroom being interviewed by David Letterman?

Ha! I thought I was always an 80s afficionado, but I had no idea that song was done in the 80's. Until now I thought Gwen Stefani's version was the original!
