Default Automotive/Mechanic Advice

Hello CPers!

So... on my way to work today my car died. The distributor finally decided to stop working, it had been going for a few weeks but I have the next week off so I was hoping it would last until then. Didn't happen.

Anyway, I have a 1989 Honda Civic and I was wondering if anyone knew a good mechanic in the North who might not be too terribly busy. Also, I've done some calling and it seems that a new distributor is about $450-500 but I can get a good used one for $150, does anybody know if I bring the mechanic a good used distributor, will they put it in or insist on the $500 new part?

Thanks in advance!

Take it to the Gigantelli's shop, they are on 16th ave over by the old Brick. You can usually provide your own parts if you want, just tell him that you would like to bring in your own parts, they should be alright with it.

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

Talk to Laurie at Apollo 8th street and 16 Ave.N.W.
I spent years looking for an honest guy/shop .

He fixed what had to be fixed even if I couldn't fix it and had already bought the parts, but he won't shampoo your engine for free then.lol He kept my free truck running for 6 years, great guy. Good mechanics, effecient I suppose.

He even told my gal that she didn't need a tune-up on her car.!!!! We had requested an oilchange and a tune-up.
He turned the tune-up ,down!!! Said we were wasting our money. Never heard that from any other mechanic.Never!
Accepted a ? $35 bill instead of a $135 bill.

Check him out.

I can highly recommend Master Tune in the NE on 32nd at around the McCall Golf Course . Privately owned shop, excellent service, reasonable prices and doesn't screw you around with unncecessary extra work. PM me if you want...
