Ummm, you aren't at fault. You shouldn't have to pay for anything yourself. You do have insurance don't you?
Your rate will probably go up though, which is ######ed.

Same thing happened to my friend just last week. Lucky for him though when he went to report it to the police the next day, the person that hit him had come forward and had started the report already.

That sucks. A few years ago that happened to me in the lane behind my house. (I still think it was the neighbour behind me, but can't prove anything) Insurance covered it.

depends on your insurance company - same thing happened to me, but reporting it within a certain amount of time (for me it was 24hrs) meant I didn't have to pay anything nor did my rates go up...
make sure you report it to the police and call your insurance company and they should cover it without increasing your rate (if your insurance company is good that is)...

I know insurance covers it but for like $350 that it will cost it probably isn't worth going through insurance.
It's not a hell of a lot of money but like I said the whole situation drives me nuts

Dude I feel for you. Some dolt in an barge like SUV must of backed into my Accord at Valley Ridge Golf Course at a wedding I attended. Zero note. Crumped my car high on the body by the gas cap. $800 damage. No different than them jacking you for $800.
Insurance deductibles don't make this worth to claim, and my insurance has a zero claim bonus reduction that makes it totally not worth claiming anything short of catastrophic. Devious buggers.

Not that it helps now, but my insurance company offered me something called accident forgiveness. It's $25 per year, and if I have one claim it won't make my insurance go up.
I figured with it being over 15 years since my last at fault accident; I was probably due to fata up at some point.

Well that is good that you can probably get a discount. So far my boss has paid for any kind of autobody work I've needed (swell boss eh?) and J&S has done all the work.
I've found Davis to be expensive compared to other places in Lethbridge, I think J&S may be expensive too but I don't know, I've never paid a bill with them!

Your Insurance will not go up at all. If it is a not at fault claim, your insurance company will realize that and code it that way. You might even be able to claim it as "comprehensive" claim, more for vandalism and breakins.
It amazes me how little people know about insurance, especially when everyone has to have it. And that is no fault of the publics, the companies sure don't make it easy, you need a frickin law degree to read the wordings.
If you need some questions answered let me know.

don't you still have to pay a deductable though? If this is the case then it's no point going through insurance as my discounted repair bill will probably be lower then my deductable. The women deals with insurance companies all day on claims and she says that I will have a dedcutable at least

Yeah I am sure you do have a deductible.... probably $250 on comp....My point was if you made a claim it wouldn't affect your insurance.

I guess you can add another victim to this. My car just got hit last night in Applewood around 3am last night. My sister heard the alarm go off, but thought it was just some loud car driving by and setting it off. Rear driver side quarter panel is crumpled in a bit, broken left taillight and shattered rear bumper. That's 2 not at faults in 2 years for this car. Must've been some drunk person or someone talking on their cell phone(that's what happened during the first accident).
I'm gonna go file a report with the police tomorrow morning.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that I don't have comprehensive coverage, since it's my "beater" car, '91 Honda CRX. Makes this whole thing that much worse.
