Default Portable DVD Players

Filling up the minivan and taking the family on a road trip in August.

My son's not even 3, so I don't need quality, just a way to watch the wiggles or clifford or something for those moments when he's about to go bonkers in the car seat.

Does anyone have suggestions on a car DVD player (after-market)?

A friend of mine has had the Wal-mart special for 2-3 years now.

Got it on a deal with an extra screen so both his kids can watch their own screen.

Get one that comes with headphone hookups as well.

I don't think you have to spend a lot to get a decent one.

$ 200 - 250 Brand new I think.

Definitely worth it.

I borrowed my buddies last summer to go to Kookanusa and had both my boys occupied for the entire drive. Locked it up for the holiday and then used it again on the trip back.

I just picked up a two screen dvd player at The Source for $260. Seems ok. There are straps that allow you to hang it off the back of the seat in front of you. The screens are also independent of the player itself.

Hopefully it will keep my two year old occupied while we take a a couple of trips this summer that require 5+ hour drives both ways.

I'm currently BitTorrenting Dora episodes that I'll try to figure out how to convert to a format that will work on the player.

Without going into details of how to with something like this, do a Google of AVI to DVD.

I got one for $99 bucks at FS on boxing day, best money I ever spent for trips.

It's a single unit (not dual screens), but at that price I'd have got 2 if I needed it. Added benifit of seperate content!

You can get Toshiba's on sale from time to time for good prices. Good brand name for DVD's since DVD is their format.

Yeah, I did that and came up with a lot of programs that do it but they're all trial versions that add a visible watermark to the file unless you pay for it.

And I prefer free.
