California
Hello All,
A few friends and I are taking a road trip down to California right after exams for a couple of weeks. We are planning to leave on the 22nd of April and will be back around the middle of May.
For those of you that have been to the California area, what places should we vist (outside the usual Disneyland, Unviersal Studios, etc.)?
Also, what places should we go to party in Los Angeles?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
-FOB.

Me and a buddy did a trip that looked like this:
Calgary --> Las Vegas
Vegas --> Oceanside, Ca
Oceanside --> San Diego / Tijuana
Up to LA for 5 days (For sure go to the Whiskey)
LA to San Fran (Alcatroz sp..)
San Fran to Seattle (Ferry and sea/tac)
Seattle to Calgary
Took 19 days. If you like fishing like i do, there are tonnes of tours that will take you out into the ocean for some good fishing. Make sure you pick the full day because it takes forever just to get out.
You can go to CBS studios and get on Price is Right (we went, but stupid bob barker was in the hospital, so he cancelled the show) there are also talk shows and late night tapings (be sure to check the website, as some need to mail you tix)
Other than that, i was under 21 when i went, so i don't know about all the partying etc.

I spent a week on Hermosa Beach, just south of LA, and absolutely loved it.

Knott's Berry Farm theme park is great. It is usually overshadowed by the fame of Disnelyand, and many people I talk to in Canada haven't even heard of it.

I like SD and SF much more than LA.
Go to Napa or Sonoma Valley to do the "Sideways" winery crawl.
Drive the Pacific coast from Eureka in N. Cali down to SF.
SF - go to a baseball game. Awesome restaurants. Great bars.
SD - great mexican food. Tijuana is a freak show, but worth a visit.

Go to San Fran, tour Alcatraz. Pretty cool.
There is also the Mystery House where this lady kept adding on to the house, I don't think construction was ever stopped. It is definitely the weirdest design I've evern seen (due to the continual construction). Link
On your way back drive through the Redwood Forest.

Why California? Why not tour Saskatchewan/Manitoba?
We got a movie theatre here, couple gas bars, one big pool ... do you like curling? Cause if so ...!
Seriously I am jealous, I wanted to go to Cali so bad .. but my friends and I are saving up for the tour de la Europe.
Just a quick question, how much money are you guys planning on spending?

Magic Mountain kicks both their butts - it's a little out of the way but well worth it. My wife and I try to go a couple of times a year- awesome rides
