Default Announcement on the Ottawa Renegades expected soon...

Per TSN Sportscentre. There was a meeting of the Board of Governors that has wrapped up a few minutes ago, Tom Wright is expected to have a presser soon and announce what is going to happen with the 'gades.

stay tuned...I'm expecting not good news.

Interesting, and a good move by the league.

The dispersal draft should be fun.

I'm not sure if it was a "good move"...probably the best move given the available options. A "good move" would have been not letting the Gliebermen touch the CFL ever again, or getting this process going 3 months ago. I think, however, that this 8 team league, with less (or even no) off field distractions like we've seen the last 4-5-6 years will be better off since every team is now on somewhat stable footings.

It's safe to say that Tom Wright's dream of 10 teams is quashed for the forseeable future.

Calf I completely understand your affinity and love for the CFL. I, at one time, was no different than yourself.

However, this was the ONLY "move" that made ANY sense at all. I dont care if Bill Gates himself had stepped up to buy the club....it is way too late for this season.

No ticket sales (really the biggest point of all), no coach or Gm, no anything that any semblance of a team would need.

It really stinks for the Ottawa fans, and indeed for the CFL, but this is one decision the BOG got correct, Anything else would of made a bush league look good in comparison.

don't get me wrong, I totally agree that this was the best move that the CFL could have done (which was the rest of the sentence you quoted)....I do believe more could have been done in this situation, and Tom Wright needs to answer for this for letting it get to this point. There was just so much fumblin' and bumblin' starting 365 days ago, that the team being mothballed/folded was inevitable. I don't like how it got to this point, but I can accept it...ultimately, by getting rid of some dead weight, I think the CFL will be better off.

I think Tom Wright should look for a 10th franchise, if Ottawa does get the Renegades back both teams should enter in the same year. The lopsided schedule is plain stupid, it worked so much better when the league was even. The schedule is going to be far better now, no more play games 4 days apart.

I hope the Stamps get a dynamic kick returner. It was the one real obvious piece missing from last year's team.
