Default Did Prince ever release anything in acoustic?

I just watched this and was completely blown away:

I always thought he was a pretentious short guy in heels who was maybe a very underrated talent on the electric guitar and of course I love Purple Rain but this is simply ridiculous. This is so different from anything I've ever heard from him, it was just so down to earth and his songs (and the covers he plays) actually sound great without all the pretentiousnous and flamboyance.

Never realized he had so much blues and acoustic in him. I wish he would just release something in this style instead of the overdone puddle of studio engineering, brash funk, and over-the-topness that always ends up in his albums.

That short acoustic set had some of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard in my life!

The guy is amazing.

I'm not really a big fan, I do dig some of his stuff...but his musicianship is so underrated it's not even funny.

A real Prince fan could tell you for sure, but I think I read somewhere that he can play (and play extremely well) something like 13 instruments.

I began looking for his videos after seeing his performance (reunited with his original band the Revolution) at the 2006 Brit Awards (it's like their Grammies). He opened the show and basically stole it completely from every single muscian in that hall and for the rest of the whole night.

You gotta watch that. Starts off slow with a new song but then he blows the place away with Purple Rain and Let's Go Crazy with a Hendrix homage to top it off.

I'm trying to find some music but I'm really disappointed everything released in albums is the same kind of thing and most of it is just too over the top and 80s (even for a admitted 80s lover like me). I was just listening to Sometimes it Snows in April from Parade and it has nothing on the acoustic version he does in that set. It's a shame that with so much range and talent that I can't find something I can buy or listen to that's different from the usual studio albums.

that was amazing!

i agree with the comments about prince's pure musicianship. damn! its too bad he wigged out these last few years...

its a little old school now, but i loved when mtv did its unplugged series. i love hearing how a songs dynamics can changw so much just by stripping down the set. the nirvana one is probably my most favorite, and i wasnt even a big nirvana fan before that!!

and, hey, lookie see, my 3000th post!!

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.
