Default Glad I don't live in Toledo.

Residents of Toledo, Ohio, are complaining that they received $25 tickets for parking their vehicles in their own driveways.

Mayor Carty Finkbeiner says he stands by the citations handed out last week by the Division of Streets, Bridges and Harbor. He says the tickets were issued under a city law against parking on unpaved surfaces, including gravel driveways.

I guess they are getting creative finding funding opportunities. And I'm sure the paving companies are happy.

I can't help but think it's only a matter of time until The City of Calgay does something like this.

I have a friend that lived across the street from a high school and would get ticketed all the time. It was a big reason he moved.

Besides, who would want to live in Toledo anyways?

I wish idiots with RV's and camping trailers wouldn't park them on their driveways and put their 4 vehicles out on the side of the road, at least that's my issue out here in the boonies. Ticket them all I say!

Something similar happened to my mother many many years ago.

She came and parked in front of our driveway, blocking it, then
went inside. Went out a while later to find a ticket for blocking
a driveway.

So, she heads down to city hall to argue, and they tell her there
that she has to set a court date, and that they can't just cancel
the ticket. She's incredulous after showing her license with the
address listed being the same, the person behind the counter still
wouldn't cancel the ticket. So she sets the court date.

Shows up with my father in court and after about a minute it's
officially cancelled.

No one up until the court would throw it out. No common sense
at all, probably just hoping the ticket would be paid and everyone
would move along, the city being $10 richer.

It was a $10 ticket, but it was the principle of being able to
park in front of your home. [Also found out that if someone wants
to park in front of your house, and you don't want them to, you can
have them towed. Is this still applicable?]

Idiots here in High River park them on the street and then complain when they get ticketed by the town. In fact when i take my nightly walk i always run into someone complaining about thier ticket. I tell them to park it in an RV lot and get a blank stare in return. Guess they're too cheap.

I'd be very surprised if the clerks at city hall had the power to rescind tickets. Those people are there to take process payment, not decide which tickets are legit.

I also find the ability to tow someone parked in front of your house to be highly unlikely. You have no rights as to the street in front of your home, you can't prevent anyone from accessing public property.

I think it's highly unlikely. That being said, most people don't know how to/take the time to park properly. So if you really want to get into a contest with your neighbors, there is usually something in the way they have parked to atleast get them a ticket. Examples: too far away from the curb, too close to a driveway, stop sign, fire hydrant etc.

Perhaps if the person is blocking your driveway you could have them towed. But just parked in front of your house? I would have to say no way.
