Thrashers take Sabres to the edge of elimination!
THRASHERS 4 SABRES 2

The Thrashers powerplay was too much today for the Sabres PK unit and the Sabres paid for their transgressions on the losing end of a 4-2 score.
The Thrashers continued their scoring by commitee as Scott Niedermayer, Jeff Friesen, Peter Bondra and Anson Carter all found the back of the net.

Goalie Statistics
Patrick Lalime (THR), 21 saves out of 23 shots, W, 3-1-0
J-S Giguere (SAB), 24 saves out of 28 shots, L, 1-3-0

Power Play Conversions
THRASHERS 3 for 9
SABRES 0 for 5

Game Stars
1 - Vaclav Prospal (SAB)
2 - Jeff Friesen (THR)
3 - Patrick Lalime (THR)

Next game on Thursday night in Atlanta where the Thrashers hope to put the Sabres to sleep for another year.

The mighty Bruins have fallen, and no goaltending has killed the Penguins. Congrats to the Canes and Panthers for being the first 2 teams to advance.

For the first time in years someone other than the Bruins will represent the Gretzky conference in the finals...

A tough end for Goffie. One can debate whether or not with Theodore or even Belfour if the Pens could have beaten the Panthers but certainly it would've been closer. Just bad bad luck.

Senators fall in Double OT.

We put up a fight but fell in the end. Scoring for the Sens was Thornton and Sakic.

The first saw both teams shut out and the Rangers outshooting us 11-8. Both goalies stood there ground and played well.

The Second saw the rangers score first and enter the 3rd up 1-0
Thornton evened it up at 1 when he scored a PP goal. But the Rangers took the lead again.. Near the mid point of the period Sakic would tie it up for the senators. that was it for scoring up untill the 8:20 mark of the second OT. Stillman gets the winner.

Series is living up to its billing as both teams now have 2 wins each. We now return to NY for game 5. Should be a Dandy.

Swept!!!

The Pens Offense wakes up, but once again their is no stabilty between the pipes. A very tough end to an overall very strong season for the Pens. When one of the leagues best defensive teams gives up an average of more then 5 goals a game something has gone wrong. Not saying we would have beat the Panthers with Jose or Buzzhead between the pipes but it would have been one hell of a series.

The Stat that sums up the Pens postseason:
PENGUINS Totals 4 244 5.16 0 4 0 0 21 129 .837

The Pens are looking forward to next season and would like to wish the Panthers the best of luck the rest of the postseason.

SABRES CONTINUE TO GET KILLED ON SPECIAL TEAMS
At least they aren't first team eliminated

Sabres lose 4-2 and are now on the brink of elimination. They have played the Thrashers tough all series, but are getting killed on special teams. Loooob wonder's if he could actually get his lines working whether that would make a difference, but that seems doubtful. Prospal continues his stellar play for the Sabres and was the first star in a losing cause. He is continuing to show he doesn't need the likes of Palffy or Smolinski to be a good player in this league.

Good season to Goffie and KG. Hard to say what would have happened for both your teams had there not been all these injuries.

Panthers Decide to let Trevor Kidd Taste Victory!

Trevor Kidd wanted some playoff action and he got it on Tuesday night. Kidd got the victory in the 9-5 trouncing of the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Penguins 1st line finally decided to show up but it was too little, too late. The Panthers cruised to victory, getting scoring from everyone!

The Panthers outshot the Penguins 42-23 in the win and went 3/8 on the PP.

Rod Brind'Amour was the star of the series scoring 4 goals, tying him with Jarome Iginla for the playoff lead.

Goalie Statistics Evgeni Nabokov (PAN), 13 saves out of 18 shots
Trevor Kidd (PAN), 5 saves out of 5 shots, W, 1-0-0
Jonathan Quick (PEN), 12 saves out of 16 shots
Felix Potvin (PEN), 21 saves out of 26 shots, L, 0-4-0

Power Play Conversions
PANTHERS 3 for 8
PENGUINS 1 for 1

Game Stars
1 - Rod Brind'Amour (PAN)
2 - Jaromir Jagr (PEN)
3 - Marc Savard (PAN)

Rangers 3 - Senators 2 (2 OT)

It was a must win today, the Rangers had to find a way to tie the series. Shortly before the game the Rangers found out they had another player that went on the IR. This time it was Anton Volchenkov, he has played really well this year but Jason Doig was ready to fill in and Jason had a decent game.

Rangers thought they would need allot of depth in this series as both teams would hurt each other. So far Rangers have Todd White, Serge Aubin and Anton Volchenkov on the IR. Hopefully the Injury bug will pass.

The game went into double Overtime and the hero of the day is Cory Stillman. Now the Rangers need to break the streak of win one lose one.

Wow what a shock, series write about how karma was on the 'Canes side this season... look at the bright side Kris, you don't have to use that crappy Gibson sig like i did for a month... that still bugs me

Congrats to the Panther and the Penguins, Injuries especially to starting tenders can really make things tough. That being said both the Panthers and the 'Canes have built solid teams and the victories are deserved.
