On a site they have posted some of the changes coming up to the Star Wars Trilogy DVD on September 21st. There are two links to hear the new scene of the emperor and Vader discussing who lLuke Skywalker really is and a voice over of Boba Fett. If you read the scroll it will tell you where to click and listen. At the bottom of the page uner the bold print UPDATE you can see the new ending of ROTJ. check it out

I don't understand this attitude towards these Special Editions... Lucas wanted to make all 6 movies fit better together which I completely understand... sure it's not an exact copy of the films we grew up loving and watching... but not buying it because of some changes is just ignorant...
The video transfer is going to be amazing, and the sound is going to be amazing, and that alone is enough to warrent a purchase IMO.

Looks like I won't be boxing my original (original) Star Wars trilogy after all. Lucas is outta control, someone needs to sedate this guy and see to it that he stops meddling with something that is already great. Bringing the original trilogy back down to earth with the prequels was enough, don't tamper with the originals themselves.
If it aint broke, don't fix it!..

There wouldn't be so much hatred if he would release the origonal version as is, without all the add-ons. That is my point.
People want to buy these touched up ones then fine, go right ahead.
I want to watch the movies I watched back when I was a kid, not watch Lucas's precum ooze.
Release the origonal's Lucas you dink.

but even those that have it say the quality isn't the best. I say the best route to go is get the laser disc put on a dvd format. I've seen it and it's pretty good.

I've been looking forward to these changes quite a bit. I wasn't a fan of a lot of the Special Edition stuff, mostly the new dance scene in Jabba's Palace. I think they really needed to redo the scene with the Emperor on ESB, since the face and voice looked and sounded nothing like the Palpatine we know. To me, the best editions of the films would be somewhat in-between the originals and the special edition, with notable changes such as the scene I just mentioned.
I also must say that Episode 2 was awesome. There was so much more meat to the overall plot than a lot of people realize. In my opinion, most of Episode 1 was pretty needless.

yeah those are pretty cool quality. I have a friend of a friend that has it transferred from laser disc to DVD. I'm just waiting to get a DVD burner to get one myself. I'll still buy the DVD on SEPtember 21st though. :P

If these changes are true, I won't be buying the DVDs...I'm fine with cleaning up the special effects, but not messing with the characters.
