Default Help find an awful person

A friend of mine at work recently received a very nasty email. Not nasty in a hate-crime kinda way, otherwise I would go straight to the cops, but definitely nasty enough to make me angry. Anyways, I have a copy of the email with full headers including IP addresses, and I was wondering if any of you guys here (photon?) knew how to find out what network or computer even that corresponds to. It doesn't have to be a pinpoint id of which computer, even knowing the network would narrow it down a lot, and with contextual details in the email itself might identify a likely culprit, at least circumstantially.

If this is possible, I will post the headers from the email. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

post the ip address you can generally tell what network they are on just by the first couple numbers of the ip address... with the entire thing you can just lookup the person.

There are a few tools you can use:

http://www.dnsstuff.com/

The WHOIS, Reverse DNS, City from IP and IP Information should all be helpful. The tracert one may help as well.

There's also lots of good info on how to interpret email headers out there:

EDIT: Probably shouldn't post the IP here though, just for privacy reasons.

Thanks cSpooge, PM sent. I've done a little poking and proding but I'm out of my depth.
