Default Pay Raise

What's a good figure to consider when asking for a raise, after 1 year?

Percentage wise.

Thanks!

I'd say 7% to 10%...if you're really daring 15% with stock option and semi-annul bonuses.

10% is the most I would give someone, unless they came in with an exceptionally polished pair of knee pads.

i don't go for this 'automatic raise' business. If you did a good job, sure go ask for a raise, but if you were somewhat of a floater and a then I don't think you should expect anything.

If you were a star then go get 'em!

Yeah I hate the time-based raises. Why should you get a raise based on a defined time period. I don't know how this got to be the established way of doing things but it sucks. Companies should give an employee a raise after 4 months if they are contributing more than their pay suggests. Moreover, if an employee is simply meeting expectations, nothing more than a cost of living increase should be offered.

I'll get a raise for sure, just have to ask. I had the 10% figure in my head, just wanted to make sure I was in the ballpark. 20% in the Oilpatch sounds incredible.

What do employeers consider the cost of living increase?

Someone here just left to work in the Oilpatch. I'd very happily for a 10% raise, I'd be extremely happy with that.

Or with inflation in mind, I shoudl ask for 12%.

20% raise in the patch......seems a bit 'inflated' to me. I work in the patch and got a 6% raise with a 10k bonus

by oilpatch do you mean "on the rigs" or actually in the industry, P.Eng type?

20% is not out of the question if you got that sorta title

Hahahha, that's just messing up the sentence going from my head to the keyboard. Not a single spelling error in there, just a typo with the "ld".
