Default Wanna buy a CFL team?

http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/news_story.asp?id=159660

The Ottawa Renegades are up for sale.

The CFL made the announcement Wednesday, saying ''a new approach'' is needed in Ottawa.

Renegades owners Bernie Glieberman and Bill Smith apparently are unwilling to absorb more losses.

The league says it has formed a committee to identify new ownership, adding it is ''acutely aware of the urgency in determining the Renegades participation in the 2006 season.''

Geez Louise. Just pull the plug on Ottawa. I realize fans their have been screwed over by clown ownership but how many times does the CFL have to try and make football work in that market when its clear it doesn't.

Contract the team.

Don't even move 'em. Just contract the team so the divisions are balanced and have a dispersal draft. (We should do the same with the Thrashers in the CPHL btw the Cheese).

I was listening to The Big Show today and they were talking about how there have been no facilities for training camp booked, equipment ordered or anything. Its an embarassment to the league. As long as the CFL allows clowns like the Gliebermans in the league to make this type of mess they will always be thought by some to be a bush league.

Woudln't it be nice to have an entire league of solid organizations. Shouldn't be that tough considering its a small league.

Bah.

can't happen until there's a stadium out there. There's always talk around the CFL about how the league would be at its best with 10 teams, which is impossible when the 9th team can't stay afloat. I can't say I blame the people of Ottawa. If you have a team that's being run by people thinking it's a hobby and not a serious sport, it's doomed to fail and not get the support of the fans. I personally want to see new ownership found to get the 'Gades on solid footing, but the chances of that happening at this point are pretty grim imho, especially with training camp two months away (see last season when the Gliebermen took over just before the season started).

While the rest of the league is doing pretty darn well, I don't see the other 8 teams supporting it being a viable option. I also don't see folding for 1 year being a good idea (a sudden dispirsal draft, then another expansion draft in '07? Forget that). I think folding the team indefinitely is the way to go, unfortunately, it's probably what is best for the league...until solid ownership people can be found again.

Exactly. The CFL knew they were clowns before they were allowed back in Ottawa. Shame on them for playing dumb.
