The Weather Man
I watched this last night, and thought it was excellent. I don't remember hearing much about this movie. It was a bit depressing at times, I guess, but it is one of the better movies I've seen in a while.
Has anyone else seen it?

I thought it sucked hard. None of the characters were likeable and the story was just plain bad. Nicolas Cage couldn't act his was out of a wet paperbag. People weren't throwing things at him because he was the weatherman, people were throwing things at him because he's a bad actor! I wouldn't recommend this film at all. My wife is a huge Cage fan and she wanted me to turn it off half way through. Pretty harsh commentary from someone who is an award winning playwrite and will watch anything (she rented it, so I MADE he watch the whole thing).

Nicolas Cage is a great actor, one of my favorite. Lord of War was great. I was looking forward to Weather Man, and i'll still watch it.

I like Cage, for the most part. Matchstick Men is still one of my favourite movies.

I guess it is a love it or hate it type of movie. It is refreshing to see a movie that is original, which this was. I thought Cage was very convincing in it. I guess his character was not particularly likeable, but I ended up hoping for him, and empathizing with him. I don't think a character has to be fully likeable to make a good movie. The movie is a very interesting character study, and had some very well placed humour in it. It was quite well written.
It isn't a typical Hollywood feel good movie, that is for sure. But if you can appreciate something that goes outside of the typical hollywood formula, this is a very good movie.

Any movie that has a visual definition on what a cameltoe is, is alright in my book.

I agree, its a love it or hate it movie. But original it is not. Its the rehashing of the down-trodden antihero theme that has been floating around for quite some time. Seems everyone is looking for the next American Beauty or Sideways with these stories of losers who revel in their own melancholy malaise, waiting for life to come to them. Sadly, the things that made American Beauty and Sideways great were not prevalent in The Weatherman. The script for The Weatherman was crap, the acting was worse, the direction was a pitiful (considering the cast), and the cinematography was terrible. When the only redeeming quality of the film is a camel-toe joke, you really got a stinker on your hands. I kept trying to find the slightest shred of quality film making in the production, but in the end it was just terrible.
You know, if it had a few more 'splosions and a good car chase in it, it probably would have been a winner!

Yeah, we didn't start off too well. Good to see we can get along despite your fetish for aardvarks with funny looking moustaches.
what the hell is this???
Anyways, it's too bad this movie isn't getting a great review. I'll probably still check it out, as I do like Cage, and Michael Caine is another one of my faves. I don't really watch enough movies to critique them to the extent many others do, though.

I think I mostly loved the plot. It was a very original movie.

The only thing I remember about that movie was the line "I could eat a peach for hours" Aside from that... I have no idea what it's about and i've seen it like 3 times.
Not a memorable film whatsoever.
