Default Apple Event Today

Did anyone follow the Apple Keynote today? For Mac addicts, it was a complete let-down.

I'll run you through the products that were announced:

- New Mac Mini core solo and core duo (Duo is a bit on the expensive side)
- $150 leather iPod case (seriously, come on Apple )
- $450 iPod boombox (with 1 speaker that takes SIX 'D' batteries )

No iBooks, wireless video, or video iTunes store in sight.

BOO!

Wow.. they waisted a keynote on that stuff?
The highest that should have gone is Press Release. No reason for a whole keynote.

Do they actually expect this to be a success, like, just because its associated with the iPod name doesnt mean a case has to have an exhorbitant price like that. Thats crazy, especially trying to make it a big deal.

For the uninitiated among us, what exactly is a "keynote". Is that a fancy way of saying "press conference"?

Also, I was looking at their main website and the cheapest monitor I could find was $999. Is that true? You can buy the computer for $629 or something like that but the monitor adds a thousand bucks. Suddenly it's not so cheap anymore. Unless they do package a cheap monitor with that little computer, but it didn't look like it.

Keynote is technically a fancy press release.
Generally the CEO of company is up on a stage, explaining to those in the audience (be it share holders, fellow geeks what have you), of new product releases, company direction, new software etc.

I didn't see the Apple Keynote, but if it was anything close to what I am thinking, then it is pretty much a huge waste. It basically makes Apple look like the world should stand up and take notice everytime they release something. Even if it is a leather case.
