Beat the Oilers lose to the Capitals. So much for gettting some momentum. Hopefully getting Johnsson and Legwand into the line-up will help create a bit of a streak
Does anyone have the hilite tapes for the AHL? I would really like to see what happened on this play:
Jean-Francois Jacques 17 (Jean-Francois Jacques, Jean-Francois Jacques)
the scouts tell me it was an amazing end to end rush where JF Jacques banked it off almost every player on the ice before scoring on his own rebound

Damn right the Stars beat the Trashers! This just shows how superior the Stars' talent is to the rest of the league. Nice game from Perezhogin tonight, apparently excited by the news that he possibly has a new linemate. Haha, sorry Dayel!

HAVE WE LOST FAITH YET?

Deron Quint of the Boston Bruins runs into Islander forward
Jaroslav Bednar behind the Boston net.
BOSTON - After a spirited first period the Islanders disappeared for the remainder of the game eventually bowing to the Bruins by a 4-2 score.
And so it begins.
The end that is. Or does it?
The Islanders -- a team that should not have trouble finding motivation given their position -- looked incredibly disinterested Thursday evening after the opening 20 minutes where they outshot the Bruins by a 13-8 margin.
Unable to beat Olaf Kolzig though, the Isles sat back for the remainder of the game, firing only a total of 10 shots in the final two frames, surrendering four goals against in the process en route to a 4-2 loss -- their second straight in as many nights -- to the playoff bound Bruins.
After being very average the night before, Tomas Vokoun bounced back Thursday and despite allowing four goals against, turned aside 33 shots as his defencemen once again failed to play their positions.
Offensively, the Islanders coach let it ride double shifting all of David Vyborny, Mark Parrish, Paul Kariya and Marek Svatos, but saw no results besides Parrish's goal in the third period.
The end is near folks, and although they aren't mathematically eliminated yet, and despite the Montreal Canadiens also losing Thursday night, the effort shown by the Islanders in Boston leads one to believe the desire is just not there.
10 games left in the season where they'll have to win at least two more games than the Carolina Hurricanes, who also have 10 games remaining.
Should be quite the finish folks. That's if the Islanders decide to come and play the next time around.

Pens battle Sharks to a 5-5 tie
The Pittsburgh Penguins got themselves involved with a shootout with the San Jose Sharks on Thursday night and were lucky to come away with a 5-5 tie. The Pens trailed 5-3 before they battled back to to the games at 5's. Eddie Buzzhead was not so sharp in his second game in a Penguins uniform allowing 5 goals on just 12 saves on 17 shots. Zac Bierk came in and stopped all 6 shots he faced to preserve the tie. The Pens are right back at it tommorow against the Wings.

Scoring Winger
|
Oil squeaked past the lightning last night with a 2 – 1 victory. Again Martin stole the show stopping 31 of 32 shots including 9 Lightning power plays. Rocky Thompson played hero tonight, scoring the winning goal late in the third un assisted to give the Oil the win. With the recent injuries that plague the Oil, missing our top player + our top Dman, guys like Rocky are seeing a little more playing time and making the best of it.
Tonight Oil and Thrash …….. game of the week.
Will the Rat find the cheese?
Oil sit one point back with a game in hand on the CPHL leader, with only eleven games remaining. What’s at steak……… 2,000,000 Hilton Hotel cash and more importantly brag’n rights.
Whooo!……… LETS GET IT ON!

Rangers 6 - Flames 4
Today was a weird game, Rangers started out really fast scoring two goals in the first period to take a 2-0 lead but in the second period the Flames came charging back to tie the game at 2. Rangers took the lead again mid way through the second. In the third period both teams decided to forget about defense and fired goal after goal. It was nice to get a win against one of the top teams.
Game Stars
1 - Jiri Slegr (FLA)
2 - Chris Drury (RAN)
3 - Colin White (RAN)
News & Notes
Colin White has had a weird week today he had three points including a Powerplay goal. Two games ago he also had a Shorthanded goal.
Rangers are in a streach where they play 5 games in 5 nights. So far they have played 2 of the 5 but Roloson is looking tired so Noronen will get the next start.
Rangers continue to get goals from all over the place as 6 players have 20 or more goals. Plus there is 7 players with more than 60 points.
Next Game vs Sharks
Season Series
Sharks won 5-4 over the Rangers.
