Default Looking for travel ideas

Well I was thinking about going to Spain, Greece, and the vicinity for a trip with another person, a not involved with female friend. Suggestions welcome, completely different locations welcome etc.

Basically will be done school by lets say April, or the end of the usual semester. Work and other commitments will take me to possibly the end of July or August, and would like to go away for a month for August, September or October.

I'm not really interested in going for more then a month as there are certain things I need to get on with, moving, work, more school if applicable etc..

As well the season must coincide with the months I may travel. I don't really want to go to Australia or somewhere like that when it is their winter, although if that makes no difference then I'm happy to be told such.

Because of this anything that requires longer then approx. one month or that would be a waste in less then a month is not an option.

Cost is going to be an issue, but more "travelling to generally expensive places" rather then just spending money. Obviously I'll have to spend some money from the beginning.

I've been to England, Scotland, Holland, Belgium.. So I'm not all that interested in going to any of those places. Things to include in those places would be Germany, France, Any of the Sweden, Switzerland, Austria etc. places are of no interest to me at the moment. I have a British passport and will be considering working in the EU later on anyway...

The sort of trip I'm interested on going on... well I'm not quite sure. It'd be nice to wander around, doing some drinking/partying here and there. As well as some lying around on beaches, visiting any places of historic significance (ha ha I don't even know what you're supposed to do on these trips) all I've ever done is small road trip drinking binges with male friends.

I don't do drugs, and I can't and don't want to sustain a drinking binge for more then a few days at a time (I know of some people that go traveling and it's booze and drug fest for 20 - 60 days). At some points during this trip I'm going to want to go to a gym, go for a run, and do some laps in a pool to maintain my present level of athleticism.

That's about it...

Oh, and I'm terrified of Sharks, Bird Flu, and being beheaded Probably in that order too!

After looking at the "favorite places to travel" thread I think Portugal, Spain, Italy and Greece are looking pretty good.

Okay did some preliminary looking around

Calgary à Turkey à Greece à Italy à Spain à Portugal à Calgary

Starting in Turkey and moving West through them all ending in Portugal or somewhere where we could get back to Calgary from.

Wow, this would require some planning of epic proportions (for me anyway).

Has anyone done a route like this? Thought of one, have suggestions

I have always wanted to go to Turkey and more specifically Istanbul. When I was in the Caucausus (sp?) I experienced a bit of that Eurasian flavour and I loved it.

I would avoid all middle eastern countries until these wars and cartoon issues die down...

Stop by Malta. It's way cheaper than Italy.

Default Iceland?

How about Iceland? That's where I want to go...supposed to have a good nightlife, what it lacks in beaches it makes up in hotsprings, tons of rugged country to explore...sounds good to me!

Iceland is supposedly very beautiful. I've never been, but I'd sure like to, some day. Good music comes out of Iceland, too.

And Ranchlander, haven't you seen D2? Greenland is covered with ice, and Iceland is very nice!

Looks gorgeous...

I'm planning on only doing two weeks in late June/early July and taking in Italy, (Rome, Florence) then going to Paris for a couple days, (I hear it's expensive so not too long,) then over to the Islands to get drunk in a real Irish pub, then I'm coming home. Should be good times.
