Jets GM Walsh announced this morning that the club has made yet another deal. The deal breaks down as follows, the Jets receive forward Pierre Turgeon from Tampa. Headed to the Bolts are defenceman Nic Havelid and forward Jamal Mayers.
We wanted to add at least one more veteran presence up front and feel Pierre is that player. We are not sure where Pierre fits in on our lines but he is expected to contribute offensively for us.
Havelid didn't really fit into our plans, he wasn't getting much ice time when he did draw into the lineup. Tampa seems to be high on Nic and we wish him the best. Jamal was a good player for us. Most of his minutes were on the 4th line and he was a decent producer from that spot with over 10 goals on the year for us. We wish Jamal all the best.
With Havelid leading the NHL Thrashers in minutes Droopy is undoubtably looking for Nic to step up next season in the CPHL. Mayers is a nice depth player and will help move the bolts forwards. The currently injured old geezer Turgeon will be welcomed in the Winnipeg manor.
