ISLES DEFEAT OILERS

Sebastien Caron kicks the puck out of the net after Marcel Hossa's shot from centre ice beat him through his legs.

UNIONDALE, NY - The Islanders got goals from four different players Thursday night en route to a 4-2 victory over the mighty Edmonton Oilers in Long Island.

It took less than three minutes for the Islanders to score the game's first goal, when Derek Roy notched his 8th of the season at 2:49 firing home a one-timer feed from young Marek Svatos, but the Oilers didn't take long to reply when off the ensuing face off, Marion Hossa off a Jeff Carter feed broke into the Islanders zone deking Barret Jackman before flipping a shot over Vokoun's shoulder.

It wasn't until 15:39 when the next goal was scored as Mark Parrish finished off a pretty play started by Marek Svatos again feeding a pinching Danny Markov who fed a perfect pass on to Parrish' stick who made no mistake giving the Isles a 2-1 lead.

The teams traded goals in the middle period thanks to Jordan Leopold's 12th of the season on the powerplay and Shane Doan's answer at 7:19.

With a close one-goal game headed into the third period, Marcel Hossa stole the puck from his older brother Marion in the neutral zone and fired a slapshot towards the Oilers net which caught Caron off guard beating the Edmonton netminder between the legs giving the Islanders a 4-2 lead which ended up being the final.

With the victory, the Isles gained some ground in the Gretzky Conference playoff race as the 7th place Rangers lost to the Los Angeles Kings keeping them in 7th with 75 points. The Islanders remain in 9th spot with 73 points, and will sit idle until Monday when they'll face the New Jersey Devils.

Yup, I'm still working on the webpage for the CPHL Vancouver Canucks.

In other news, the Canucks get an important win. What does the future hold? We're not sure yet. Radek Dvorak continues his impress play and finds himself 5th overall in the points race. This is the highest a Canuck has ever reached. For that, the GM is ecstatic

Devils continue to suck really bad. Today they give up 5 goals to the Sharks. All given up by Mike Dunham who has been terrible since returning from injury. After the game Devils GM Sylvanfan announced that Dunham will play ever remaining Devils game from here on in barring injury. Other than that we really can't wait for this ****ing season to end fast enough.

Jets win to stay close in the playoff race. New look like combos came through. A couple of days with no games gives the team plenty of practice time to turn this Jet around.
