Caps stay busy....

Two UFA Cap players have apparently moved teams in the last day. One confirmed deal involves Joe Corvo, while another unconfirmed rumour has Legace leaving town.

We do know that Corvo was moved Last night with project prospect Paul Baier for big German dman Christoph Schubert.

Schubert being 23 and having the potential to be a solid 3/4 defensive dman in the league helps the Caps round out their young talented defense. With the recent acquisitions of Luc Bourdon and Ryan Suter the youth movement continutes in Washington.

It is confirmed that Manny Legace has been moved.

Legace was sent to the Columbus Blue Jackets in return for journyman goalie Kevin Weekes, young highly touted dman Alexandre Picard and a 3rd round draft pick.

The Caps felt the gamble of Manny Legace's pending UFA status was too much, considering the fact they are allready out of the playoff hunt. Alexander Picard joins a stellar young cast on the Caps blueline of the future. This includes Ryan Parent, Luc Bourdon, Alexandre Picard, Ryan Suter, and Christoph Schubert, all aged 18 to 23. Kevin Weekes will provide the team with consistent goaltending as MA Fleury develops.

The Caps are now looking for top young forwards for their remaining veterans/UFA's.
