Just look at the face of my avatar. Is that the face of a killer? That being said, she has playfully "sacked" me on several occasions. . . . perhaps the retrievers are trying to eliminate future generations. This needs further investigation. . .

Sad story. But it can happen with an animal that out weighs you 2-1. Odds are the dog just didn't "get" that he was hurting the girl.
The only reason I play wrestle with my friend's dog is that I out weigh him by a 3-1 margin.

6 year olds should not play with big dogs unless they have direct adult supervision.
Duh. Where were the parents?

my golden retrevier and I weighed about the same (I was slightly more), we'd play fight all the time. I loved it as I stopped playing hockey about a year or so before we got him, he helped keep my reflexes keen and sharp. That said he could really give me a go, I'm not a strong guy so when we'd fight I was all quick movement and reflex reactions. Mind you, when visitors would come, when Turk was younger, we'd have to watch him if they wanted to play as he was a big dog - but he really truly thought that the sole purpose of every living creature on earth was to play with him.
After reading the article I'm questioning why no one was watching the 6 yr old and the dog. The article said their dog was 69lbs. My guy was 115-120 and wasn't fat... was it still a puppy? If so, 6 yr old + large puppy + playing in the yard = someone should be watching.
Sad regardless, a real shame as something like that should have been avoidable.

An accident . . . . . but probably set up earlier by the humans if they were allowing their dog to playfully tug at their clothes as a matter of habit.
Dogs play with each other by grabbing the scruffs of their necks and throwing each other around. As puppies, they think you're a dog as well and want to play with you the same way. You have to show them you're different or the cute puppy becomes a big dog still doing what it thinks is normal.
Do not do this with humans!!!

This is why I don't own dogs, or any pets for that matter.

OF course they shouldn't be banned, that would be ridiculous.

My god, you aren't funny... You're like that kid at at school who farts in class to be funny but people just think you're ****in wierd.
Anyway, back on topic. It's sad the girl died but that's just a freak accident with that breed. and I really wouldn't be suprised to see a serious post similar to fotze's on this board... that's what set me off. So my bad, I guess.
p.s. when joking, use an emoticon...

I thought it was plain as day that Fotze was taking a cheapshot at Cowperson in jest.
Golden Retreviers are very mild tempered, playful dogs to suggest they should be banned because they're violent or a danger to society is insane (hence the exageration and the joke)

Good for you... I don't know if there's a prior arguement between the two... but to me, you just never know on the OT board.

Well I suppose most long time posters here knows Cow has a couple Golden Retrievers, why are you getting so uptight over it?

Oh no! You should know by now that I don't care too much about what other people here think of my "contributions"
All it took was a damned emoticon...
Now in terms of Cow having Golden Retrievers... I forgot completely. So yeah, maybe that's why that one slipped past the goalie... and by goalie I mean my brain.
