Default Is Calgary a Desert or something??

How much snow/precip have we had since August? 10cm?? I'm sure we'll get our usual dumping of snow in late May though.

We are a winter city, where is the damn winter?? I mean I just love hitting a nice patch of concrete on an outdoor rink. It does wonders on my edge's...

It's not even warm though... It's cold, dry and windy here 98% of the time.

A nice week of solid cold temps plus alot of snow would be nice. This isn't a continuation of my "Chinook's suck" thread. It's just a little crazy how little snow we've gotten this year.

I'm a bit of a weather nut and love a good storm of any kind.

I just washed my damn car so I'm not hoping for any snow for at least another week.

This is the best winter of my life. The quality of living in Calgary would go way up if winter was like this every year. I can't get enough of it and I hope it never gets cold again.

Are the ski resorts hurting this year? I'd think they must be but I don't use them. Sunshine's website has things all hunky dory but they just might be exaggerating.

Why? Explain? It's not even warm. The only positive is that the roads aren't icy.

Whatever makes you tick I guess, but I find this extremely boring weather.

In my line of work, the cold weather and snow helps me big time. I can't believe the weather that we have had this year, I can't every remember a winter like this ever.

Haha, yeah. It's pretty much a guarantee we'll see 2 feet in May.

I can't complain about this weather. Not too warm, and like Jiri said, not freeze your nuts off cold. And I hope the weather can continue, so maybe I can give that car a good wash sometime this week.

I can understand complaining under any of the following circumstances:

-You're a snow removal company
-You want a traditional white Xmas
-You're a farmer
-You're a kid who likes making snowmen and having snowball fights

Excepting those possibilities, you'd have to be nuts to disagree with KG's take on this. No ice and snow = driving bliss, cleaner shoes (and therefore homes, malls, offices, etc.), fewer hassles with bulky winter clothes, longer-lasting car engines and windshields, lower heating bills, less snow shovelling, and (generally) just a happier bunch of citizens.

So, Jordon...since you can't understand the position of the "pro warm" crowd, I've tried to explain. Now can you explain why you're so miserable with this weather, other than your problems with hockey rinks?

I'm enjoying the warm weather, mainly because it's easier for my commute to work. However, it's really speeding up the rust.

+/-'s all around.

Who says i'm miserable?

I do love Playing outdoor shinny in the winter. Anyone who plays it would agree that in this country there aren't alot of things better to do in the winter...

All you pansies and your cars... pffft. If I can hack waiting 25 minutes for a bus with -20 weather, come home, have some nice hot soup, grab the skates and stick and head over to the rink at night for a couple hours with some snow coming down... you can too. Or are you too scared to drive?? Or your car will get dirty?

You'd have an arguement if the weather was actually nice. But a high of 5-8 Degrees isn't even nice... combine that with disgusting brown lawns, gravel all over the roads, and a dry wind at your face.... bleh!

I'd prefer my winter to be.... Winter.

Well, we all live here. Most everyone has taken a bus in the winter. We all put up with it when its -20. You arn't special. We just prefer NOT to put up with it.

Well its not summer warm, but its no where near as cold as it could be, I will take what I can get.

Like you said roads are not icy, thats a bit thing for me, my little civic doesn't do well with lots of snow, and its parked outside so not having to clean it off and warm it up as much is a big bonus.

I don't ski/play outdoor hockey so I'm not missing anything there.

No shovelling is nice. Tank of gas seems to last way longer, so its cheaper.

unlike you I'm NOT a weather nut, a good storm annoys me.

I can understand other people's point of view, but I like it right now.
