Why now?
After all the bad moves he made he should have been gone way before now but I think he should have at least been given to the end of the season to see if anything happened and then sent packing. Don't see the benefit of getting rid of him now.
The new GM is not going to come in with a lot of positives. He will have Bosh and nothing else. Bad contracts, crappy players with little upside, horrible draft picks the past two years. It will take awhile to get this team back to respectibility.

I'm not so sure about horrible draft pics, Charlie V is looking to be a descent player, and getting rid of Alston for Mike James is looking pretty good as well. other than that yeah his rain wasn't all that great , hopefully they bring someone in with experience in building a franchise and this team starts to turn it around

I guess Cahrlie isn't horrible but he isn't all that good in my opinion either. He gets some stats playing on a crappy team but thats about it. Araujo was an awful pick and Graham is uninspriing as well.
The Alston-James swap was good but signing Alston to that contract in the first place was stupid.

Babcock took over a mediocre team, turned it into a bottom feeder, and then further ruined it with moronic draft picks... I'd bet that he'd have passed up LeBron if he had the #1 overall that year, he's that stupid.

He also did great in the Vince Carter trade and I forgot that we have the MVP of the NBDL to lead us into the future as well.
The guy did a poor job. As I H8 Crawford said he took a mediocore team and turned it into one of the worst teams with absolutely no upside. We have Bosh and that is it. No other player is of starting quality, James is may be but if so he is a weak starter. To get a guy in the second round that MAY have gone 15-25 and now isn't even playing here isn't much to hang his hat on. I would say he had one horrible draft and one bad draft, although I would give him a little more time and maybe it could be considered an okay draft. He deserved to go right after he made those draft picks and deserves to go just as much now.

What a pathetic franchise. It all started when McGrady left.

As far as the draft goes. Hoffa was a bad pick, granted. Albert Miralles was taken in the second round and was then immediately flipped for Pape Sow and a future 2nd rounder. GREAT trade, Sow has been the MVP of the NBDL this year and has shown alot of promise in limited action. As far as last years draft, to come away with Villaneuva, Graham and Ukic (someone who many thought would go mid first round) was a tremendous job.
But you guys are right, one drafted player not meeting expectations is completely unacceptable. You would think Flames fans would be a little more fair when it comes to someones drafting record.

Even if the 2005 draft picks work out they were still poor choices given what else was on the board at the time.
He bunged up the Carter trade.
He bunged up the draft.
Then he told the season ticket base their team would suck.
He should have ben fired ages ago. Right decision but as Moon says - why now?

Did he ever bung up the Carter trade. He was offered Magloire and most likely a pick for Carter.
A player who really wanted to play in TO too, has publicly stated such. Not to mention it addressed the MASSIVE need for a REAL center.
Instead, we get a pick whom we used on Graham, a pick next season, 10 million dollars lost in buying out Alonzo Mourning, Eric and Aaron Williams who sit on the bench night after night chewing up money.
You couldn't have gotten much worse for Carter.

It would be quite an act for you to top the absolute idiocy of Babcock.
I swear that guy's only goal was to become known as the worst GM in the history of sport.
That Carter trade almost makes the Gilmour for Leeman look good.
I mean holy ****, I doubt you could make that trade in video game basketball...
I can't believe that idiot held onto the position for as long as he did... my personal favorite too was when he said that Raptor fans shouldn't expect much this season b/c the team isn't very good... Ummm, isn't it the GM's JOB to build a good team??
The Arujo pick was worse than the Grizzlies picking that in-bred, ######ed **** named Bryant Reeves...

I know Mike feels differently about the era of Babcock, but you honestly can't say he utilized his resources for the best available team/players for now and in the future.
