Default Fire Traps 70 Workers In Saskatchewan Potash Mine

It appears as though everyone is safe but still a scary situation:

Marshall Hamilton, a spokesperson for the mine, said the 70 workers were trained to head for isolation areas in the event of an emergency.

"In those refuge stations, they can seal themselves off and there's oxygen, food and water. And they can stay in there for at least 36 hours."

What I'm going to say may be offensive to some but I mean it in the least offensive way possible. It's a good thing that all of these mining accidents are occuring and becoming public because it is finally going to force these companies to straighten up their saftey regulations and how much funding they put towards their on site emergency equipment. Both my father and grandfather when they came over to Canada started off in the Mines and they have horror stories that would bring a chill down your spine and this isn't like these horrible breaches of workers rights and safety is occuring in a third world country it happened and is happening across Canada. It's time for someone to force these mines to put an end to the garbage they force their workers to put up with.

A visit to the Hillcrest, Alberta graveyard in the Crowsnest Pass is all you need to do to see how dangerous these things have been.

Sounds like they have more of a chance because of advance preparation and training than those miners in the USA had though.

Yeah, I was thinking some WV families might be asking why their mines don't have stocked refuge rooms.

If all 70 miners walk away from this WV gov't can point to that mine and use it as an example of how that state's mining industry should be.
